This is my first and only (so far) tube project, the Multi-Hybrid headphone amp. See here for the design:
http://www.headphoneamp.co.kr/bbs/zboard.php?id=diy_sijosae&no=217
I designed my own PCB, used Panasonic FC caps bypassed with 100nF caps, 1% matched resistors, Alpha pot, IRF610s and a 6922 tube lit with a UV LED. I got it into the same hammond case my PIMETA fits into. It draws about 500mA at 24V. I used 20VA toroid and made my own regulator PCB based on the TREAD
I really like it and it is now the main amp I use. You can see more pics and get Eagle files on my page here:

My first Amp Just Completed!

Based off of Rick Spencer's Mini SE Amp from AudioXpress 4-04.
3.8 Watts.

It was easy to build. I can provide a pdf of the article if anyone's interested.

Sounds great. A little hummy, probably due to some wiring errors.

Hope you like it.

Hi SST4270,

Your amp is nicely built. Good job.

Wondering what are tubes you have in your amp? I read the article and it employs 12L6 as the power tube for Single Ended output.

What about the OPT iron? Seems your one is better than the Hammond 125.

Johnny

Johnny,

I used the tubes called for in the article...
NOS tubes purchased from Antique Electronic Supply.

GE brand 12SN7
Westinghouse brand 12L6's I also purchased some Sylvania brand 12L6's. I'll be giving those a try next month.

Iron?? I AM using the Hammond X-frmrs,
261M6 power and 125CSE for output... BUT I wanted the encased look as I have seen on more expensive transformers.

I painted the formers with a black krinkle finish
then... I have the good fortune due to my job to be able to manufacture SLA's.
So I designed coil covers for my transformers in Pro Engineer and made them in the SLA machine. Painted them gloss black and
hot glued them onto the transformers for a more finished look.

Thanks for your compliments.

Steve

Hi Steve,

I really appreciate your detailed introduction of your amp. If you have chance to work on it again, I would recommend you could use bigger OPT's that would provide you with much wider and flatter bandwidth. Of course, it would bring more notes so that you would enjoy more.

Have fun,
Johnny

Digi01, i use some regulator pcb's from you and i wonder if you want to share the headphone pcb layout with others (me for example). mayby you sell them like the regulatorboards?

Are the tubes ECC86 (6GM8)?

Yoyr headphoneamp look great!
