PeeCeeBee

Hi shaan,

i've read some last couple pages of this thread, you said that peeceebee V1.1 perform better with supply of 32-35VDC, since i got a good quality of torodial transformer with 18-0 VAC dual secondary 112.5VA/rail (used to supply my lm1875), any possibilities to use it?
or just stay use EI transformer moderate quality with 24 CT VAC 120VA?

Thanks shaan,

here another porn of baby monster 😎

Hello guzz.

For two V1.1 channels I would go for two moderate quality EI transformer with 24VAC CT 120VA, or a single 240VA.

Thanks for the porns we love them. 😀 :note:

Hi shaan,

okay but sadly here, only have a single EI trafo but nevermind, never play music as loud as an amplifier could go in wattage 🙂

after done with my supply i'll try to report what actually my "baby moster" sounds like.

thanks shaan

ermm.. saw V3 in other site, very cute layout

Then close your eyes and hook up that 120VA EI!

after done with my supply i'll try to report what actually my "baby moster" sounds like.

Looking forward to that.

You mean this? 🙄

It's currently available for buying only within India. When all my boards are sold out, it'll fly (maybe with V4). 😉

Hi Arif!

Ya the pics are worth drooling for. 😀

Think no more, give the V2 a shot.

😉

Hi Shaan.
I listen VSSA from your previous model . Couple days before, I listened with PSU of 4X 18 kuf Nichicon caps, then this morning I hooked it up with 2X10kuf Sony, by passed with 100nf mkm for each rails. In my opinion, there is some changes in sound impression? Am I right?
What do say? Or it is just my “ bad “ hearing impression I have.. ha ha ha. Not sure about that..
But FYI,, the bass... ho ho ho so plenty!!!
Thank you so much for your very good work..
I have to be patient, waiting for sourcing pcbs and parts... looking back to my drawer...

If you hear a difference then there Is a difference, although I may not hear it. Don't worry, each of us listen to the same music from different speakers, angles and perspectives so all is well.

looking back to my drawer...

You're the man! 😉

hi shaan,

after listening to some CD recordings ,
i concluded that this amp was very muscular ,dynamics , detailed ,
and very worth to try!!
compare with my 3886, this baby monster more better for sure.

for all who haven't try peeceebee, please don't believe what i said just build one and try it then judge it by yourself 😎

thank shaan, for your design.. salute

wondering if i can find some BC560C, whether it would be better ?😉

My pleasure. Thanks for telling us about your PeeCeeBee build and sonic impressions. :worship:

The C types have the highest gain so yes using them is always better.

Dear Shaan.. If it possible using bc550/560c instead of bc546/556 for V2 ? 2200uf of 1000uf? I have much 2200uf caps rather than 1000uf caps. Pan FC will sufficient I hope.
Thank you.
Best Regards...

No,do not use bc550/560 in V2 EXCEPT if you power this up to +/-35v.

Hello Arif. Thimios is right, don't use the C types if your PS is higher than +/-35V. Also make sure the capacitors are rated for higher voltage than the PS.

Maybe it's better to not post reply when I'm sleepy. 😱

Ok .. Thank you so much for your very kind attention dear Thim and Shaan. The reason I am going to use bc550/560c is I have those transistors in matched pairs. And I have some Nichicon capasitors which are rated at 35 V also, beside other capasitors at higher voltage rating. I will try to get bc556 pairs from local market, since I live in a village, or maybe by internet order later.
For preliminary setting maybe I will supply my amp not more than 35Vdc.
Best Regards

If your PSU is +/-35V then all capacitors except the 2200uF ones must be 40V rated or higher. 2200uF should be 6.3V rated.
My Apologize, my mistake for not giving you clear explanation about capacitors. What I mentioned before is Nichicon caps only for PSU purpose that rated 35V surge 40V. The other capasitors are rated at 50V and 100V for Signal board purpose.
Dear Shaan and Thimios, you are the men, explaining anything particulars in order not to let anybody doing mistake while trying to build this VSSA.
Bc546/556 maybe available in the local store close to my village, but to obtain matched pairs maybe I have to buy a large of amount.
Best Regards,
