PeeCeeBee V4H GB

You can try this and see if it improves:
Take a 10ohm 1/4watt resistor and a 100nF ceramic capacitor. Solder them in parallel. Intall this network in series with the SGND connection by cutting the SGND wire and soldering it in the middle. Do for both channel.

Hi Shaan,

Sorry for the delay,
Done as suggested, put 10ohm+100nF in series with SGND, but there is small improvement. The hum is still there when the amp is connected with my CD.
My CD is dc coupled.

Any other idea ?

Thanks
Theo

Hi Theodosis.

The amp is also DC coupled. So with DC coupled source it needs a capacitor in series to stop any potential DC to get into the output. Install one 10uF 63V capacitor in series with each input terminal of the two channels. Polyester types are recommended, alternatively you can use good quality non-polar electrolytic as well.

Finally done! I'm a happy owner of a V4H amplifier.
Actually it has been a couple of weeks now since I finished it but I got stuck in work so I had no serious time for listening and reporting till now...
I am very happy with the sound. To my surprise, it turned out to be much more in control of my SBA10 speakers bass compared to FO1.4M. And all of that with half of power from pair of Sammi's SMPS600 (VS Hypex 1200 on FO)
Tonality is superb, imiging spot on. I would say that only thing that I miss compared to FO1.4M is midrange sweetnes to some degree. But in the end I feel that V4H is more true to the source.
Special thanks to Shaan for the support and patience, who made this build and amp setup a pleasant DIY experience!!! :)
