Pearl Acoustic Sibelius

Hi Acko, I found all information on the internet and it's free to the public.
I use it for making and designing the building plans and also I looked at how to damp this speaker.
Just find it in my previous posts here: https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/pearl-acoustic-sibelius.378803/post-7527630

If you want to built the Sibelius Clone like I did you don't regret of it.
At SoundImports there are 5 drivers on stock.
https://www.soundimports.eu/en/markaudio-alpair-10-gold.html

I also have a matched pair of the MAOP11 Gen.2 and I likt to build also something nice for them in the future.

“Our drivers are more expensive than Mark audio’s hobbyist ones because they are hand made for us in relatively small quantities. We have a special voice coil. Um, and then when they come to us, we test them, we pair them, we run them in for 360 hours, then we test them again. And then we test them again in the (?). When you receive them, they are already up playing (?)…. A mark audio driver will work in them. I mean it will work, but it won’t sound like a sibelius loudspeaker."
Nice commercial talking 😉.

I just want to say; if you looking for a simple speaker with nice and easy deep lows then this is a very good choice!

Very easy to built according my drawings and pictures and they will be no big difference to the original ones! Impossible.
I shall never and never ever buy the very expensive original Sibelius.
It will bring you nothing and it is a pure commercial issue.

Naturally all of my other self build speakers sounds different and they are not comparable to the Miles, Duke, Exotic, Basis or Odin.
Far away from them.
But overall not bad at all!! and they are very pleasant to listen to them, they are going very deep for a 4 inch👌 .

Use it to your advantage.

I'm listening to an original Sibelius CG.

I'm confused.

Where are these loudspeakers that you are listening to? Can you not get them into the same room as your replicas and compare the performance?

Maybe you could also knock together a well-built pair of Pensils of FHXLs -- much easier to do than the clone -- and do the comparison some have wished for?

Would be interesting to have a shootout with Original

How is the bass like, extended? Going through some reviews seems that a sub woofer needed and that’s like $2k+ for KEF types

The same cam be said of almost every loudspeaker.

A 5.25” FR will be limited in how much air it can move. I expect that Harley’s box is good into the mid-hi 30s anechoic, more in room. It won’t do train crashes or earthquakes or if you are an organ afficiando…

But based on my experience (FHXL, Pensil) they produce a surprising amount of bass depth, and are very satisfying …. depending on your tastes, some like a bit exaggerated bass or if you need that slam in your chest you will need to add some volume displacement at teh bottom.

I still remeber the look on Mark Fenlon’s face, and him asking us to play the passagea again — not believing what he heard, when we demoed the FHXL with A10PeN. His viosit coincided with the first FHXL were just coming out of the shop.

I expect that Eikonas in one of the GM ML-TLs or A10x in any decent quarter-wave design will provide very satifying bass for mist domestic listening. No matter what the mains, some music types and listening tastes deman helper woofers.

I want to say that all the Mark Audio drivers that have been tested (A12p, A11MS, 10.2Maop and CHP-90) have all surprised me with their strong bass ability in the right enclosure and placed in the right place in the room.
It can make a big difference where you place them. Closer to a wall and closer to a corner amplifies the bass.
The driver's long stroke is the solution to this.
When you close your eyes while listening, it makes you think that there is a bigger driver at play.

Originally, I wanted to build a Frugel-Horn (MK3 or lite). Unfortunately RumoH currently ran out of panels. And it will take around 3 months to get the wood cut.
I am thinking now of a Pencil, Sibelius clone or an Eikona. The panels for the Pencil, Sibelius clone or an Eikona are easier to cut. I can get it cut also from other online cutting companies.

My office room where I want to put the speakers is around 11 sqm small.

What do you think which Pencil or Eikona built would fit? Would the pencils 12 producue to much bass energy in the room? And I would like to listen in nearfield 1 to 2 meters.
