Pearl Acoustic Sibelius

This one:
Eikona II

and the cabinet that I was keen to build:

Perhaps compare this to your MAOP Sibelius 😉

Thanks Dave, yes noted the comparisons but good to test out. Besides, I don’t want these Eikona drivers going to waste just sitting on my desk, been 4yrs already - looking for a new home🙂

In regards to braces, looks optional and wondering if we could do away with these if 32mm French Oak or similar used. Here we have Tasmanian Oak and hardware shops sell ‘dar’ types. Not sure if good enough

Btw, I have ordered the actual PA Sibelius, so no appetite to diy speakers anymore …

Part 1 of 2.

Today, after my short vacation, I sanded (120) the cabinets after the first layer and added the second final layer of coating.
This is enough for protecting the massive Oak Wood.

Also I added the damping materials, self-adhesive Damping 10 and Long Hair Wool.
Not that much Wool as you can see on the picture but enough for performing the first test.

Internal cabling (OFC) (Oxygen Free Copper) also according what I mentioned before.

Now playing with temporarily terminals, perfect for testing.

Not bad at all! Nice!
Let them play a couple of weekends and we will see.

Next step installing the final terminals, finishing the adjustable stands.

Very happy with the results! 👌 😍😍.

I always use removable binding post cups. Makes it a whole lot easier to wire and particualrily to rewire. Also allows for low metal connecters.

I’d also use solid core 24g (ish) wire for internal hookup. And i have a box of those MA slide in connectors. Solder the wire direct to the driver.

Hi Planet earth. If the first two hours don't play well, it's never going to play well.

Very much not the case. These drivers need to broken in slowly for the first 100 hours, they significantly evolve, and if you play to loud to early th espider will be imparted with a memory of that and the drivers will never reach their potential.

A10.3 really needs something like 500 Hours to achieve its best, the improvement is logarithmic.

If you started out playing them loud right off the bat, i am sorry for your mifortune.
