This is a great idea, lets start a list for AUSTRALIA I'm happy to start the ball rolling I've got a couple of abandoned kits here that should be salvagable if you are better with a soldering iron than I am

Let me know when I am up.

Well, lets see......

There has been something like >12 requests for the box in this thread; only 3 of which have been fulfilled due to a spastic "snag" in the chain. 🙄

It's been just over a year since the first mailing, so at this rate......

12 months / 3 satisfied customers thus far = 4 months average per person x ~9 people still in queue = 36 months from now.

Enjoy the wait!!! :smash:

wiki?

It would be better if there was a wiki and a time limit (1 week?)

That way we could track the boxes and harrass people who kept them too long. And the list could be dynamically changed if someone wanted out or in.

I'm just saying...

In my opinion...

Wiki: great idea, then we can sort out who is next
Time limit...hmmmm... not so fond of that idea. I received a request for a shipping address from Mr. Teapot. I haven't received the box yet, but I will do my best to give it a quick turn. Part of my parts stash is being sequestered by some building construction lock-outs. So to put me on a specific time table 'ain't gonna work'...

But as I said, once I receive the box, I will give it as quick a turn around as I am able. Perhaps in the mean time, someone/we can sort out the queue. I see Joe at Cornell was the first to chime in after my post.

Okay, I'll stop there. I will let every one know when I receive the goods.

It's clear to me that there are several others who had already been waiting. I'm cool being put at the end of the queue, so long as someone can confirm that I am indeed in the queue. I did request a spot in line (either by email or just a "me too" post) earlier in the life of this thread, so perhaps I'm already in line?

FWIW, this feels similar to tape trees that distributed live music for bands that allowed taping. In those cases, the entire tree was visible to everyone so that folks could prod if it appeared the process got hung up. That said, I'm not trying to second guess or create more work for the kind soul who got this party started in the first place. In fact, I'll volunteer to manage the list (assuming there is one) if no one else is interested.

And at the risk of coming across as an a**hole, I think a time limit is reasonable. Not that it can be enforced in any way, but more as a guideline - i.e. if you're up and you don't think you can pass it on in a reasonable amount of time (for whatever reason), you can opt out altogether or move to the end of the queue.

My $.02....

-Joe
