I was just listening to "a million dreams" on the 3fe22. Haven't played with it for a while. Quite awesome how it can play the soft parts and the loud parts equally well.Yes Oon I was asking Xrk about the stuffing on his TL Fast. This driver would do well in a 2 way set up.
Finale Vivace ya. Don't think I can part my money for that. lol
Back to the onkyo. I have been listening to the onkyo with a rear firing tweeter.gives it a lot more air....

Hi Oon
Got mine up & running for a couple of hours. Yes they do sound very smooth & like you I notice it sounds a little dry & opaque but overall really can't complain for the price very good indeed & the box that I chosen sound good in bass.

Got a much better solution Tamra. Solder a wire from basket & to negative terminal & listen again.
Dear tamra,
I use "CR Neocell Skin with Adhesive Sheet " for sealing.

I think, "Solder a wire from basket" is virtual ground?

Welcome Tamra. To bad I can't post music vids here would like share with you guys my findings. Every one have different recipes & ideas when it comes to diy.
Nandappe has some pretty good sound recording equipment and analysis technique. Still, I think it would be a challenge to convey to another via "music vid" the change in sound due to something like connecting the speaker basket metal to the (-) terminal...
I have to believe some things which are clearly and easily perceptible live, must fall when recorded. Ever catch someone's gaze in the car behind you off your rear view mirror? Something (analog) is still conveyed via the mirror's reflection. A Facetime video? You can look into another person's eyes directly all you want - it's gone, whatever it is that's otherwise happening.

Agree partially as we are all using the same drivers, what we use for speaker box material thickness, internal hook up wire, stuffing etc will affect the final sound which can be easily hear over a vid recording regardless. Measurements for drivers are done in close proximity which excludes the sound of the whole speaker projecting into the room.
Dear jjasniew,
Certainly, we can't tell from YouTube videos whether or not there is virtual grounding.
The reason I record it is not only to upload it to YouTube, but also to compare it with the CD source.
It is useful because it shows dynamic characteristics unlike normal measurements.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Finale Vivace Mini
Yes, it gets good press. I put the down to the excellent performance of the driver. Reverse engineering shows a poorly designed sort of ML-V.
Put the 3FE2x into Frugel-Horn Lite to maximize bass performanceand you will have exceeded the Vivace. The bass does go low enuff to make you think the bass is there. It isn’t. Clear when you play teh same cut with a speaker that will do the fundementals.
Not with the 3F2x but the FHL has, on more than one occasion, had people coming back to listen not believing what they were hearing.

I understood the volumes a bit larger so I filled them with more absorbent.
Which makes the box appear even larger.

I have tried to connect minus and cabinet.
But it was like taken out the magic also.
I think it's better to connect amplifier ground?
I wish fostex use dragonfly cone...

for understanding what might be happening by grounding the basket, look up the “groundside electron” discussion.
Grounding baskets has been a thing since the pioneers. Some drivers even come with terminals to the basket to make it easier.
It can work, or not, or make things worse.

Dear tamra,
The RCA terminal input of the amplifier and the SP terminal (-) are good.
