I am getting a tranformer turned for this project.
Will it be ok if i ask for
50VA
secondary 1: 230V = 100mA
secondary 2: 9V = 2.5A
like on the circuit diagram a few pages earlier in this thread? or should the ampere rating be higher?
yes, it is ok. 230 x 1.28 = 294V, +B need 200 V , I= 40ma, ok,
Second question IRF9160 , anybody have a supplier/equivalent for these ,it seems they are hard for me to find.
WAIT! I think i see now , It should be IRF9610 and NOT IRF9160
We\I need a decent parts list page with designators.
and possibly a once over to look for mistakes like this 🙂
you can use 9240 change 9160, becuase in the PCB, i put size for it
PM:
if you can by it, i can help by it for you IRF9160.
but made China, about 0.5$/mosfet.
Let me rephrase:
http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/atta...r-andrea-ciuffoli-simpler-siplistic-phono.jpg
IRF9160 = WRONG!!!
IRF9610 = CORRECT!!!

I have paid for 3 Shunt and 3 Phono, weeks ago and you received the PayPal notification as well as on this thread and a direct email. Regards John.
Your payment for $198.00 USD to quanghao168@yahoo.com.vn has been sent. ...... MAY 6th.
There is now concern as the numbers will be incorrect if you have not acknowledged my early payment.
Please confirm.

E180F substituting D3a?
I am interested in building this phono preamp but it seems a waste of money buying D3as at about $20 ea (incl of shipping) when I already have a stash of E180F. Searching the web it seems they have similar characteristics but they're not automatic substitutes.
What is your opinion of this valve? Does anybody have direct experience of it, particularly in phono stages? Being far, far from technical (though I've built/copied a number of projects), can some members please suggest what changes in the circuit shown in post #1: http://http://www.audiodesignguide.com/Phono/pre-phono4.html
are needed for the E180F: http://http://tdsl.duncanamps.com/dcigna/tubes/sheets/amperex/6688-3g.gif
Thanks for your help,
Best regards,
Joe A

Yes!

E180F have similar characteristics to the D3A so it can be used in the phono stage but ........
1) the voltage gain is 50 instead of 77
2) the internal reistance id 2.4ohm instead of 1.9Kohm
3) it is more expensive on european market
The pin are compatible and probably also the operation point should be the same.
Sure to use it ?
