You close your eyes and you are traveling to another era, one imagined thanks to old Hollywood movies.

How is it possible that I have not found a reference to a CD edition? A new treasure.

There are CD's of the famous Rach Piano Concerto performances by Earl Wild/Jascha Horenstein. They slid under the radar unjustly ignored in the '60s because they were originally published under the RCA badge, but they were basically Shaded Dog era Stereo LP's and are terrific. ...Played at a high-ish volume the strings become a burnished, organic up-welling of feeling to be found in the work of no other conductor I know, while brass and typmani are equally stirring; one can with little effort imagine being there. There is power here, an underpinning of great strength, contrasted by tenderness and delicacy.

A few hours ago I discovered that I had this album. Being a Fürtwangler is something unforgivable. After hearing it, I ratify. I probably did not like the sound years ago, before solving my very serious problems with the electrical grid.

I am delighted with the current sound of my second system!
