Jess Stacy - Stacy Still Swings: Chiaroscura '74 ... back on the PC outfit ...
Stacy was 70+ at the time, and he mumbles and sings along, in best Glenn Gould style, in the distance. Quite a bit of tape hiss ...

About an hour and half ago on the radio - Tony Bennett / Lady Gaga "I Won't Dance" - their first pairing about 3 yrs ago seemed like just a novelty ( Lady is a Tramp), but the latest is a far less wacked out combination that you might think

Edit: I wish they wouldn't do this ... 😡 !! They have not brought the recording equipment up to the same state of equilibrium for each take, and when making corrections. This shows up by the sweetness of the violins changing every now and again - very sweet; somewhat dead; reasonably sweet; etc, etc - with each edit cut. It's noticeable enough to be a bit distracting - consistency is everything ...

Also listened to this yesterday, an excellent album for stressing and catching out systems - to be able to play this at realistic volumes, and still be totally clean ... an excellent test instrument ...

A collection of "live in concert" standards, by Ella Fitzgerald - a cheapie, plenty of record groove noise on many tracks.

This was a good one!
They are quite underrated I think.
For me, they are one of the best among the best.
Lets see, when I was at the most sensible of my years, at early seventies, there were golden era of great prog rock bands.
In this genre, my all time favourites are Genesis (Peter Gabriel), Jethro Tull (Ian Anderson) and King Crimson (Robert Fripp).
And of course Gentle Giant with Shulman brothers, Phil, Derek and Ray.
I do not want to establish order among those rockbands.
I do not even know.
Others, like Pink Floyd, Yes etc... only came after them for me.

Just been listening to Ry Cooders "Pull up Some Dust and Sit Down" CD
Track 7 " Baby joined the Army" in particular is brilliant for its guitar sound and recording.
