Tommy - very interesting percussion technique - with a nylon brush, turned the vocal mike and acoustic guitar into a drum kit - you had to be there
amazing player, and Frank and Vinnie are no slugs either

Saw Tommy here last year. I agree, an amazing player.

Right now, listening to a cover of 'A Whiter Shade of Pale' by Halie Loren (feat. Matt Treder) on Best Audiophile Voices VII.
I am usually not a big fan of covers, but these audiophile CDs are great when you have a great sounding system.
The little rhythmic percussions throughout are very interesting to listen to, great performance and great dynamics with the usual piano, bass and her voice.
I am listening to it up-converted offline in DSD128.
This is followed by yet another cover while I write, with Cindy Lauper's 'True Colors' interpreted by Eva Cassidy. The simplicity and purity of her voice shines through, with just a delicate guitar and guitar slaps to accompany it and some reverberations.

This is the guy we saw last night (and will again tonight), Willy Porter. He's toured with Rickie Lee Jones, Tori Amos, The Cranberries, Jethro Tull, Sting, Paul Simon, Jeff Beck... My wife, bless her, got us an introduction to him, and he turned out to be an incredibly nice fellow- AND agreed to play a private concert at our house.
This is some spectacular guitar playing, approaching the Kottke-Rice speed limit.

For some odd reason his style suggests the male version of Ani Difranco. Albeit with better guitar picking.
There is a professional and personal connection there, yes. That's very perceptive.
He was great with a band last night, doing a song circle with Peter Mulvey, Randy Sabien, and Bill Camplin. Their show tonight will be an entirely different set of songs, in the manner of the Grateful Dead, but without the LSD.

We saw Willy again last night. This was one of the songs he played, possibly the most complex guitar work I've ever witnessed.
