Well, I'm not a Doctor but I play one on TV so...

The blood vessels that were taken from his legs and used in the chest appear to be doing well in their new home.

The legs muscles are suffering deconditioning due to the extended period of inactivity and will require physiotherapy for quite some time. Thankfully we have no indication of Muscle Atrophy at this point.

The dizziness and disorientation will right themselves over time as his daily life returns to a more normal routine and an improved sleep pattern.

If you have any further questions please consult the head nurse or the the tending nurse should the other not be avaialble.

Thank you.

radio silence broken...

I had the opportunity to speak with Ruth yesterday or the day before as I hadn't heard any news lately.

Apparently no "breaking news" regarding Dave's recovery or prognosis. Thankfully there has been a nice and slow (as in natural) improvements daily with no worsening of either his physical or mental health.

I am of the belief that no news is good news. Many thanks to chrisb for his efforts on behalf of all things "Dave" related.

Best wishes to Dave on continued progress back towards health. Re: Alcohol, if you can keep it to a few drinks a week it's not bad, if it's every day, you give yourself all manner of awful stuff. The good part is that if you're younger, the liver and kidneys can heal up pretty quick- the "dry january" thing that's so popular in the UK will likely show up as a huge improvement in disease rates in people who did it, 20 years down the road. I'm doing it myself as I'd slipped back into "couple drinks to unwind" mode after a challenging (and rewarding) year at work.

To reiterate, Dave, you'll be back to putting dashed lines on all manner of acoustically irrelevant surfaces in no time 😀

No real news just that Dave, while not walking, is at least ok when he is vertical so I guess walking will be the next step. Ordinarily I'd laugh at a sentence like that but I am still feeling very humbled about this.
Ruth is tired but remains that pillar of strength needed to get through this.
I've been absent a bit trying to get over a bug and Ruth's email was down for a while but hopefully we'll return to more regular updates.
