when U received the dac was standard fit the 5534, not 5532.
I only use one single op-amp for oe channel.
if still cannot use the opa627, plstry remove the dac
ic socket & re-solder, every diyers can do this & use 627 or 797, your will be same too. do U had any other single -op-amp on hand??
if yes, pls try or try to ake this dac to your friends if he had some of single op-amp can fit & test.
every channel circuit was mirror image, all same. Pls try to use the solder to re-solder the output satge of the dac & find out the problem .
looks there may be the IC sockets problem, f U had a new one. pls exchange for it & ket me know the result.

Yes, you sent me two Phillips 5534. I've also bought one 5532 dual opamp just for troubleshooting. Have been reading quite a bit about opamps. So amazing to learn that there are so many different types and results!
If the TDA1541AS2 is USD90, I'll take one. Quite expensive for me. Registered mail is fine with me.
One other thing, do you have PCM2707 or PCM2706 IC? I've been trying to buy one with no luck. I want to build a simple USB receiver. With I2S output.

John's design may be can solve the matching problem of the chips. S I suggest U order 1 or 2 chips first & test in my dac for the sound quanilty. If really large improve in yor system or this s te sond stage that U like, U considerate to buy more in john's dac will not late..
I will keep at least 20 pcs on hand, If later U really like to get more.
I will offer same price for 6 pcs to U.

I replace all the caps this Week End ( 2 for PSU, the Rubbycon (2x) and the 4 Oscon).
So conclusion, I have an hum problem
, not a static hum because
it increases with volume level. But the sound came out ( sweet sound indeed) without any apparent distorsion.
when I power off the DAC, i hear a ploc, a pschit...., just like capacitor which is slowly discharging (about 1s).
Before changing caps, all was normal (no hum, no ploc), i run in NOS mode with ex-clock fitted.
I check the RCA, switch canal, change cable, switch power trans .... all seems ok. May be when desoldering or soldering i have broken some part but which one ? When i do all this job i didn't let op amp, ex clock on the board.
So, is there anyone who has measured (U or I) part around opamp ( i suspect it came from there) to help me find an eventual dead part ? ( i have 16-0-16 at the output power trans, 230 V 50 Hz in)

I finally received the parcel. No damage to anything. The DAC looks great.
It will take me some time to set it up. I didn't order the transformer yet. I can get it in 2 days from a local shop.
I'll read all posts relating to various issues to ensure that all is well before turning on the power.

I had little small tips for all diyers, the best coupling caps for the 1541a in my test in different audio set up was Epcos MKP.
160V one the small one was 0.1uf 63V epcos in the power supply.

Hi RTD,
You can measure from pin 4 (-12v) and pin 7 (+12v) both to ground or between pin 4 and 7 (24v).
2 x single opamp AD797 on dual pcb connected in single 8 pins feet on board.
But I'm thinking that lost a connection because its a double sided print board so check your connection on the board.

Thanks for your help. You were right, it's a connexion between one of the PSU Caps and one diode ( good translation ???

that has "take off" from the board ( probably due to heat when desoldering).
As it links the diode to the (-) pole of the caps,
it passes very close to the (+) pole (or Vice-Versa). When moving the connection, you can hear hum increasing or decreasing....
So i will try to stick it or change it for teflon isolated wire and solder it in the bottom of the PCB.
