New Stasis front end

The scattered remains of engineering on the battlefield of bias setting 🙂

The Stasis sitting astride the DIY Krell KSA50.

I'm seriously impressed with this amp, and it's ability to make a room quite warm and cosy...

My gracious thanks to Mr Pass and yourself ZM. PXL_20210820_212017484.jpg

I owe so much...where to start...

As I mentioned in another place my amp experience began with Naim (Nait 1, 32.5/160), on to Avondale and on to a DIY Krell KSA50, by way of a F5T. I found the F5T too, hmmm, bright and detailed for my speakers at the time. The KSA50 really powerful and trades a little to imaging and overall finesse; but it is a lovely amp, takes some beating. At least it broke me away from the Naim house style.

And now I have a Threshold Stasis clone and boy is it different from the Krell. The Stasis has that lovely ability to mix detail and music, generates a wonderful soundstage, spot on imaging and delivers a fabulous natural, neutral sound without adding any "rounding" out of the sound, especially voices. The sound is quite real and very musical. I'm impressed.

Other bits in in the chain. RPI streamer (roon and tidal), USB into a 2x4HD miniDSP (just used roll off LFs for the subwoofer and volume control), Status amp, a pair of 1972 vintage Quad ESL57s and a XXLS400 sub.

I await the release of magic smoke and the collapse of the amp into a pin hole sized black hole...i can feel it coming.
