New First Watt product at Axpona 2023

Tokin it to the next level! :whazzat:

Yup, as ZM says, that looks like the baf 2015 amp without the trafo. Very cool indeed!
BAF 2015 had no output transformer, it's a common source mu follower, as is the Singing Bush.

I built the BAF 2015 THF-51S in 2019, although it is now converted to a MUFF. 🙂

ra7 meant input xformer, as way of Schade-ing MOS iteration of BAF 2015 amp

anyhow, as I said - anyone think - ACA - SIT variation?

all I can think now is - how small NFB amount is, I can imagine Papa's wicked green adding that as a sprinkle

easy enough to investigate, with handful of parts

better to have that fun, instead of watching TV, for instance

I mean, we can draw general figures........ 20V Uds, 1A Iq......... but each of us is most likely having different needs and certainly different taste and criteria what's acceptable

again, easy enough

I'm confused about the source of Q1, presumably a N-channel JFET, ending up at the gate of Q2, presumably a power VFET/SIT. Does that require a gate current to work?

Last year the folks at Refined Audio had the "Beast of a thousand FET's" was teamed with another pair of CUBE speakers.
I remember that room last year and enjoyed talking with the guy about his Beast amp. The amps looked like little waste baskets from the 70s, though attractive.

Are CUBE speakers the ones that were called Plex-i-Box last year? There were some plastic boxes you could get with different full-range HE drivers. They sounded good. I miss not going this year.

that's "simplified circuit"

see as example, ACA simplified circuit, Article page 4/10

https://www.firstwatt.com/pdf/art_amp_camp_1.pdf

and remember, SIT being depletion mode part ( gate needing to be lower than source, voltage level wise) there must be few funny quirks or two, in full schematic

somehow I have a feeling that quirks are already shown by Pa here

For the greedy boys!
Open it up, send send us the pictures. :xmasman: :Pirate:

As a true diy nerd i always find the guts of the amp easily x10 more intresting than the shiny box that hides all the inside build and electronics that sonically, actually in the end really counts.

As always as we say about the amp builds here: Pictures In focus and well lit. With dead bugs and all 🙂
