The folks at Refined Audio also had another prototype of Nelson's, a very cool 6 watt headphone amp. They let me listen and watch as they explaining the amp to me. I can't wait to read the article Nelson writes about this.
Last year the folks at Refined Audio had the "Beast of a thousand FET's" was teamed with another pair of CUBE speakers.
Just down the hall from the Refined Audio folks were the Plasmatronic tweeters. I sat and listened at both of these rooms longer than my entire visit to the Expo.
They played a solo jazz piano selection at one point, some music you hear, some you feel and some moves your soul. That would be how I would described the sound from these speakers during that song.

Nelson, the folks at Refined Audio were so nice to me, allowing me to watch them put the headphone amp through some tests and letting me listen. The explanation of the amp, how it works. I have pictures of the amp and my notes, I can't wait to post them after you write the article about it in the Firstwatt website. The SIT-4 will be there in Refined Audio's room.
The Pass Labs room was packed when I was there, Kent had several people who seemed to be talking to him all at the same time. Every one left and moved on to other rooms with a smile on their face. Maybe next year I'll introduce my self and say hello, then again, silence is golden.
Very cool elwood. Thanks for sharing your experience. 👍 I was wondering when Pass was going to put something new out. TheX.8's have been out for a very long time even though they are awesome amps. Will there be a X.10?... 🤔
so, Greedy Boyz, you got it at BAF 2015
now buffered and de-rated for FW casework
anyway, be happy, Papastash of elevator parts is low 5 figures
edit: anyone seeing SIT ACA there?
imagine buying two SIT-4 and bridging them

Nice! I haven't had the pleasure to listen to one of them tweeters. I bet they sound really good... but, why the wrong colour?? Or, did you fellas decide to make your own colour code... like with everything else that should be standardized??It's a bottle of helium used for the plasma.
What's the efficiency? I am guessing in the neighborhood of the VFET. 45VDC, 1.8 amps bias??
it says 180W of heat, both channels/case
that's one small Burning Amp, be sure of it

Tokin it to the next level!
Yup, as ZM says, that looks like the baf 2015 amp without the trafo. Very cool indeed!

90 watts/ch consumption. Efficiency = 10w/90w = 11.1% If 45v, then 2A. It will be interesting to see how soon someone has a working DIY version. What's the efficiency? I am guessing in the neighborhood of the VFET. 45VDC, 1.8 amps bias??
BAF 2015 had no output transformer, it's a common source mu follower, as is the Singing Bush.
I built the BAF 2015 THF-51S in 2019, although it is now converted to a MUFF. 🙂

well, think a little
you can pick at least 5 different ones, made in last few years, print any/all of these, write DIY-SIT-4 on them , and that's it
not saying that Pa didn't include trick or two ( NFB for instance), but I'm just saying that if we miss to learn from actual schematic(s) and then remember, wtf we need future ones?
