New ceramic drivers from SB Acoustics

Another quick general post regarding my aforementioned 3-way project;

How would you cross these drivers and why? I was thinking maybe cross to tweet around 2k and to woofer around 500? Any input/thoughts/ideas bery welcome!

Cabinet design? Sealed/Ported/Transmisson Line? How would you go about it when faced with a 3 -way with this driver combination? Any input/thoughts/ideas greatly appreciated!

I am aiming for good bass response since i have no sub at the moment (though in future i might build if i find it would add) but also want to keep it rather compact since i don't live in a castle.

Will mostly listen on-axis and near-field (think studio monitors).

Was thinking maybe passive radiators? or maybe sealed.

Best regards!

Some others think this is a good strategy:

Most people wouldn't consider a 6 inch 3-way but I'm thinking 2 of the 17CAC 8 Ohm drivers in parallel coupled with a good mid and good tweeter would make a great small and slim, 3-way tower.

These are just my opinions but based on literally thousands of hours of critical listening "tests". Again, no formal testing or measuring by me except test tones, sweeps, etc. (no microphones or test equipment; just my 2 ears) and well known recordings.

FWIW...

My aim is a 3-way full sbceramic driven by dsp (hypex FA123)

Tweeter : SB26CDC-C00-4
Mid: SB15CAC30-4
Woofer: SB23CACS45-4

I will let you know when all is said and done, maybe even post some measurements if interesting?

The thing is they had everything in stock except the 8" so it might b a couple of weeks of wait.

How many liters would you use for the two SB23CAC ?

85 liters and 2 -- 7.2 x 68 cm ports

But I'm using 1 SB23CAC-4 per speaker

SB26CDC-C00-4 seems to be the "best" tweeter "out there".
People write "for the price", I would say the best tweeter given it's Sd, generally speaking.
Tests better than any other tweeter, regardless of price.
Given SB's attention to detail this doesn't surprise me.

SB acoustics has the best build quality for the price and looks (my opinions).

Mid: SB15CAC30-4 -- should be excellent

The 5" SB's seem to be some of the best SB woofers, same size magnet as 6.5" SB's
I use the poly cone, it is okay. I can't complain about it. Not a lot of resolution maybe?

MW19p-8 seems to test better than the MW16p-8 satori. And QTS is spot on for both.

Woofer: SB23CACS45-4 -- yes, I would say it has less detail/accuracy than the SEAS REX22 right next to it; I was just listening to both.
But it also has way more bass than the SEAS.
And looks way better and seems to have better build quality.
People say SB has a lot of bass distortion, yes, because it has bass to distort.
Easy to have no bass distortion (and then it transfers to mids, etc) when you have no bass.
You can only make the motor so strong to get the driver to extend to lower frequencies.

SB products are some of the best I would say.
The attention to detail is wonderful.
Even the packing is superior to a lot of manufactures.
Of course some "audiophile" can say: "it doesn't take the veils off".
Well, okay, I agree, but not every one wants that

I will probably be using the Seas U22REX/P-SL (H1659-08) 8" Curv Cone Woofer instead of the SB23CACS45-4.
Although I usually go with build quality and SB23 is better than SEAS.
Beefy construction. Better attention to glue joints (over-glued). Nicer top and bottom plates, nice frame, nicer pole piece. Nicer packing. Nicer terminals. Should I go on? Good thing I didn't buy the Satori MW19-8 I would probably have a boner while using it all the time

Why go with SEAS then?:

1) it takes the veils off
2) 222 mm frame diameter
3) ampslab - Mike Chua -- stated even the bass has a lot of detail.
4) I assume my room will give me a lot of bass lift and SB23 will be too bassy for my small place
5) Also I don't like ports and I need the port to be "tight"/"fast", but if I went sealed enclosure, I would go SB23 obviously
6) SB Qts specs are often very far off.

This driver has similar specs to the SEAS 22REX and "better" cone, add an extra 6 grams though, which is fine:
