And I swore off Property and his nut-case ideas...........
Geez....how much much time can one person waste and not have a damn projector????
The mini fridges could NO WAY keep up with the heat output of a projector. My 575W MH Elmo heats up THE WHOLE ROOM. Just try to leave the door open on one and use it to cool a room once. NOT. All you would suceed in doing is maybe cooling it a couple degrees and wearing out the fridge since they are not designed to run continuously. All you need is the proper amount of airflow UNDER the LCD...that's where the polarizer heats up. I'm surprised the server doesn't overload from Property posts....can we put a limit on posts/day?
Sincerely-

I agree with cooling the bottom of the LCD, but like vebose said, it's cooler to put the LCD on the stage glass then have a gap between them. Tested it and it's true!
So I think there's no way to cool down the LCD other than fans with icepaks or something like that. ( with icepak, no chance of trowing water on the LCD then if it was ice cubes )

And as for the refrigerator,
Proto5 your point might have some validity to it...But something simple to do is you could incorporate a Thermal Storage Mass into the fridge ($10 box of RockHard again). That way when the projector is not on, the Thermal Mass will "soak" up the cold, and then "reradiate" it slowly when the projector is on (what would actually be happening is it would soak up the heat when the projector is on and slowly reradiate it--so the colder the thermal mass is before the projector is on, the better).
A Thermal Storage Mass is like a timer on heat....It soaks up heat and reradiates it MUCH more slowly.
The desecant salts are good for removing all moisture.
I've read that a toilet paper roll is also a good moisture filter.
And actually opening your fridge door DOES cool a room considerably...At least it does my small kitchen....And in what i'm suggesting you would not open the Fridge door often (once every 1-2 years to change the bulb) and you would seal it very well, lessening the work the fridge would have to do to some extent.
Keep your Projectors Fresh!

Well I don't think a fish tank, or any water cooling would work. I mean by that, it's only the LCD that gets hot, not the stage glass or the plexiglass (well for me, it's only gently warm ). So putting something between the LCD and the OHP wouldn't change anything at all, since the heat is produced by the light that hits the LCD polarizer. And it's only in the center that the LCD gets really hot.
For me, the only way to keep this thing cold, is to throw cold air to it. We can't throw it under the LCD because we would need a gap between the LCD and the gap create a "greenhouse effect" ( thank verbose ) and it gets more hot! I've tested this and it's true! My LCD is cooler without a gap!
So, I've allready 2 fans on both side of the LCD, maybe I'll put 2 more. For now, I'm going to the 1$ store and I'll buy 4 icepaks, and I'll build something so the fans will throw cold air to the center of my LCD.

Actually the 3rd Fish Tank link talks about putting the light in the fishtank and replacing one of the walls of the fish tank with the LCD.
With the ice packs, you will probably be throwing moisture at the LCD:
The icepacks will condense water from the air onto them...Then the air blowing over the icepack will pick up this moisture and carry it to the LCD where it will stick to the glass....
You need a moisture filter: Fan blows air over icepack, then through moisture filter, then to the LCD.

Gui, why not use argon glass. the guy from Hommie.net has one, its supposed to be a glass filled will argon gas, it blocks UV 100% and it blocks heat. I heard they cost about 5$ but i have no idea where to get one, do a search or something...
Well, i feel really newbish but hey, here it goes. You take a mini fridge, and run a pipe through in one side and out the other. The pip would go right through the fridge so the fridge itself would not have an air leak in it. It would jut be a pipe running through. You would probably need a massive heatsink attached to the pipe to cool in down fast. When air is sucked in one side of the pipe via intake fan, it would travel through the pipe for a few feet and be cooled by the fridge/heatsink (or could we say in this cas a coolsink 🙂). Then the air would exit and go into the projector cooling system. This would cool the air without burning out he fridge motor (as fast). And that concludes my property style idea that I am ashamed i even put time and effort into 😀)
laffin my BAWLS off..
LMFAO ahahah
is BAWLS a real company? if so is that their REAL slogan? ahah 😀
that looks like something you would hear in a GTA radio AD lol.
any ways, great illustration i see you had fun with one of Property's many cooky plans lol
a stupid as it sounds...a fridge..dare i say.. CAN be a good setup...
goodjob mate!

Oh man! Bawls is the greatest high caffeine drink in the world! If you ever have a chance to try it, you will be hooked! Guarana is a berry from south America that has a form of caffeine like no other. Must more potent than coffee but without the gitters! www.bawls.com order a case 😀! Its great for staying up all nigh and working on your projector.
Heh! That was kind of a parody of property’s half-baked ideas on cooling, but hey, It might just work.

coffee...you vile substance..i loathe you!..
1: i HATE coffee...since childhood....dont ask..
2: I would never put anything in my mouth called "bawls" lol
i think they named it that for a reason... those guys have a crazy sense of humor lol

well in the hood they dont sell that stuff, but i'll tell you what if i ever see it i will buy one (and remove the label of course)
I LIKE IT!!
But instead of a heatsink, You could run the pipe through the mini-fridge's freezer and surround it with ice instead of a heatsink....Or even just water...

ah huh property hm hmmmmmmmm what have u missed property u have missed somthing what could it be? another danger poerhaps? well ill tell u it could bet if u want some broken hot gass through your face or through all of your projector, look up mh bulbs and their specifacations and lcd's too and lets just see if your idea will work with humidity, looks like ill see u in the intensive care again property lol
