Nah man....ALL the students are selling their mini-fridges....None of them want to lug them back home...They are even just throwing perfectly good ones in the dumpsters instead of lugging them around.
The thing with ebay is that shipping these suckers is a b*tch

nah...you would need direct cooling for my AMD 🙁
do you knwo how fridges work any ways? is it just a cool fan?

Yeah but direct cooling your AMD *INSIDE* the fridge would SUPER cool your AMD...
They work just with a radiator/water pump/coolant/peltier type arrangement...
no fans...
They transfer heat from inside the fridge to the radiator coil on the back of the fridge....Feel the back of your fridge at home...When the pump is running, it should feel kinda warm...that heat is being transfered from the inside of your fridge to the outside of the fridge...
or something like that.

I just had a wild idea, you can eliminate the PC tower altogether jsut put your mobo in there! last time i looked water cooling and peltiers were around 200$-300$ this would be a great experiment fo r a DIYer and Modder. you can have AKEEM's setup in a fridge😉
Hmmm... Ok..now i'm starting to worry about condensation though....
I wonder how much you could cool a heat emitting object without condensation appearing...a temperature control on the fridge would be a must i guess...for fine tuning the temperature so as not to have condensation... But then again, keeping the fridge air tight and removing moisture from inside might be able to manage that problem...

well..great topic but im gettn sleepy, let me know any new info tommorow and lets hope gui999 isnt mad about you threadjacking his thread lol
😉 cya

Yeah, me too...
Nobody Else wants to put their 2-cents in? Good Idea? Bad Idea? Problems? ANybody ELse?

You could fill the salad crispers with desecant salts (like the kind that come in the static bags with your computer parts) to remove all moisture from inside the fridge. Or coat all the walls of the fridge backwards on black cardboard (sanded) with the salts and an air gap.
Or you could bloody paint all the walls of the fridge matte black with a whole lot of powdered paint mixed into elmo's white glue...Then while the glue is still wet just coat all the walls with with the desecant salts (the kind that come in the static bags with your computer...the little round beads).....something like that...Even fill the crisper with some for good measure....And stick your htpc in there also cuz youldn't want to open the door too much, only to change the bulb...And you could have a valve for sucking out air with the vaccum every now and then.
In fact this would work great with ohp too wouldn't it....Even with commercial projectors for extended life....But you'd have to keep everything dry dry dry.
But i guess the *main* point here is that The MH-ohp systems are not THAT hot and the that the LCDs can basically take the heat...right?

Just wondering what kind of setup you have/or plan to have... You've been doing tons of barin storming around here... im just wondering what your up to 😀...
Well right now im thinking of something i called negative design that later evolved into a conversation about mac vs pcs.
Or of course You could make any old fridge like box for your projector and buy one of those Air-Conditoning units from Walmart...They are loud though so leave them outside or somewhere quiet and use them to pump cold air to the the box...or as someone in thihs Forum suggested...if you have a central airconditioing unit in your Home just pump the air from one of your vents over the projector and attach a thermstat that triggers the A/C unit to the projector...Then set your air conditioner to 70degrees. But that one's only in the summer or hot climates.

yeah a hot climate hey property? like living in the sahara desert in africa? then u got another problem, power now poser out there property lol since when does it get hot enough not to use a projector in the summer of any city? its pathetic to use a fridge or aircon to cool the projector, if u need that then redesign the thing cos its obvious that u dont need any air con to cool the projector when its designed right

Sorry ACE but if you want to leave your projector on all day....Then you probably need air con or a fridge.. And walmart probably sells those things for $75
And i'm not sure what yuo are talking about the Sahara but i now in Texas even the beggars have air conditioning.

property
property i have my projector on all day, have u ever heard of nominal temp? that is the temp it gets to and stays after warm up any increse in outside temp is minimal to the inside, as i said design it right and u wont have a prob, just like in computers, if u knew anything about computers u dont need a fridge, just the correct airflow, look at the most modern projectors, they can only be run from 0deg c - 30deg c why u may ask? cos these things are so compact there is no room for a decent slow rpm quiet fan with high air flow they use small *** fans that are basically only good for a vid card lol most pro projectors have an airflow of 10-15cft per hour, in mine 60cft per hour an i can garentee u mine is quieter, just like in comps mod the box cut out the fan holes ect, those who have done it know what im on about i have and my cpu in the summer in a place where it gets to 48deg c in the day gets to a max of just 45deg c and thats at 2000mhz
