Narsis / Kaneda mosfet amp
Today I finished both channel of this little mosfet amp.
I am very-very happy with the result (with the sound).
Typical relaxed mosfet sound, laid back, relaxed, open mids (without any muddiness) and with great authoritative bass.
Warm tube like sound. More like SE type.
I do not have scope and other stuff to take a measurements! Please do not ask.
I will post the layout, the circuit etc. In case anyone interested to build it.
Soon I will post some picture of the built amplifier also.

Some picture coming up as I promised.
I use a 250VA, 2x20VAC toroid transformer, 56 000uF capacitors per rail, C-C-R-C-C setup.
For the drivers instead the old caned transistor I use from ST BD140 transistors.
I had at home JFets 2SK117 enough to get the two matched LTP.
The power mosfet I have the original but because it is in plastic case and has only a 50W heat dissipation I replaced other type of Hitachi power mosfet.
I did compared the two different mosfets and no sound degradation.
The layout I posted the 2.0 version (improved) and you must use the mirror image when you printed out.
Enjoy

Yes, those are NTC type.
It is a keeper amp because of her sound.

Hi Gaborbela
Congratulations!
I had built the bjt differential input version of this amp about 35 years ago but at the time my system was not good enough to really appreciate the sound. However I remember that I liked it more than my commercial JVC amp….

This is the original mosfet from the circuit. Please see the pictures.
I felt very un-easy to keep those in the amplifier, only plastic case and 50W heat dissipation.
I ordered something similar Hitachi (based on the data sheet) 2SK1170 and did multiple A-B tests between them.
Maybe it would work with other type of mosfet (Hex-fet) also. I did not tried.
Ali-express sells mosfet as the original with the heat spreader.

A US eBay seller sell the original plastic case mosfets (the on in the circuit), I ordered mine from there.
Only difficulties I see to get ORIGINAL matched LTP 2SK117BL.
Since I set up the amplifier I can not stop listening!
Fab,
There is an other type of Kaneda circuit (similar) I like a lot with a SIC power Fets.
One day maybe...... 😀 😊

Yes, finding genuine jfets is a big problem here. Anyways I thank you for sharing the data.

Not sure if 2SK170BL would work or some other 2SK### replacement.
I know Aliexpress sell but not sure if they are originals even if they post the semiconductors box.

Need to be matched, I had 25 pc and I got 2x2pc close matched to the requirement IDSS.

Google will help, it is easier to find than Toshiba 2SJ74BL that is sure!
https://www.donberg.ie/descript/2/2sk_117bl.htm has some also

Also quite a few on swap meet if you do a search

Those who would like to build the amplifier they can find 2SK117BL, it is still available! I did google for a couple minutes and found many sources.
Today I gave the amp it is own Alps Blue potentiometer, rhodium plated RCA connectors, I wire up those
I need to find a better fitting volume control knob because the one I got not satisfy me, does not match the amp (looks fugly).
Time to put the lead on and enjoy her. It is a keeper especially for hot summer days.
There is another version of KANEDA circuit which I like a lot with SIC power Fets.
I would give a try to that to as soon as I get help with the PCB layout. To draw the layout as I used to with the paint program it take too much time.
I never tried SIC Fets to build something before neither heard the sound in person (only reason it woke up my interests).
Some pictures from the last touches, before I put the cover on.

This Kaneda circuit is the twin sister the one I built. This one also uses a SIC power Fets!
Very likely from the same power supply it would work.
Of course it need to take care of the different semiconductors pin-out when it comes to the existing layout.
One more time because of the SIC Fets I am interested...
I never buit any amp with SIC Fet neither heard one just from the YouTube.

Thank you!
I think I got the layout. NOT tested(!) yet. I modified the original layout with the paint program.
Soon I will test it and let you know if I got it right.
I need to collect the parts.
Colors are codes for different parts,
Greens are resistors, Reds are Semiconductors, Blue are Cap, Purples are diodes..... Yellows are trimmers...
The first Kaneda I built I listen every day since I built it.
