My F4 adventure begins

John, my two favorites are the Pass BA 3 transistor preamp and the Impasse tube preamp. Both are discussed on the forums here. Each has sufficent swing to drive the F4. I like the F4 so much I built two and run them bridged. Gives me a very nice 100w class A for each channel.

Agreed, it would be an experiment. I like the sound of those EL34s on their own.

^ I guess the F4 will allow the sound of the EL34s to go through while adding oomph in the bass.

Running the CJ preamps through the F4 is fabulous. It really shows how good the CJ sound is.. it "sounds right" indeed.

The F4 is indeed a rare amp. It has no sound of its own.

I want to check out that Pass BA3 preamp.

But for now I am just starting the build of a Wolverine.
