Am I to assume that falls into your category of favorites? and That I should consider it as well?Yes, there are dynamic drivers which can do that. I used aurum cantus ac130f1 to cover 150 to 5000.
Definitely, I have mentioned it before. I used it with beston planar, and in another built with fountek ribbon tweeter.
Another I already recommended would be peerless. Its all in the link I provided in post #11.

jimbones - you may already know this but the AC130F1 is the woofer/midwoofer in Jeff Bagby's Continuums.
I agree, I would not use it below 200 hz. One thing I like is it has a plastic/mica cone. I'd like to try that out. I find paper if not designed right gets shouty. My current 830883 does that. I will sim it before i buy it to get a feel for it, and like you said, the price is right.I would avoid using it open on the bottom, its not really a woofer, its a mid. So any bookshelf with it should be high passed and supported by sub.
Its cone is thin. By design i suppose, to tame the breakups.
Yes, it makes great mid. And its available and not too expensive.
The June 2022 Voice Coil issue have just shown off Tang Band's updated of 3" dome.
No distributors down under, so it's a little interest to me, but it's called the:
Yes, I wasn't aware of it either, because of TB's funky 1996 era website, but here it is:
http://www.tb-speaker.com/products/75-1558sh
Vital statistics:
ID/OD: 117/140mm
90dB/2.83V
3" voice coil, neo slugs
damped chamber, Fs 260Hz.
1.5mm x-max
Low distortion, good down to about 500Hz LR2, can go a little lower if you go steeper.
Dispersion good to approximately 3KHz
A lollipop for anyone who can find a stockist!

The impedance curve goes up really high under 1000Hz, can be a sign of that it's out of it's optimal area.
You are not wrong, Voice Coil shows it's a walk in the park above about 1.5Khz. H3 is more than 70dB down...
The idea behind Lynn Olsons' the Ariel speaker was to get Quad ESL like midrange with greater dynamics.Has anyone heard a dynamic midrange driver that can rival a competent ESL for midrange clarity and timbre for voice or acoustic instruments?
ESL can do 150-6000Hz with no crossover and low distortion for mid-range pleasure. Do any dynamic drivers meet those basic parameters for midrange integrity?
Modest size ESL mid-range panels for a two or three way DIY speaker are available e.g:
http://www.eraudio.com.au/505_Mini_Panels/505_mini_panels.html
505 Mini Panel specifications
Dimensions 505 x 150 x 5 (H x W x D in millimetres)
Sensitivity 86dB for 2.83v input
Frequency Response 200Hz to 20kHz + or - 2dB

To that end a 5" mtm transmission line was build.

I don't think price is the driving factor in your search, but...AC130F1 is on sale for $58 at PE for Memorial Day.My current 830883 does that. I will sim it before i buy it to get a feel for it, and like you said, the price is right.
bought it!! I got screwed. I bought on Thursday at 72 ea. Not sure if they would honor the price as of FridayI don't think price is the driving factor in your search, but...AC130F1 is on sale for $58 at PE for Memorial Day.
I found pe very reasonable. You can try to call them and explain. Maybe do not ask for money, but credit for next purchase...bought it!! I got screwed. I bought on Thursday at 72 ea. Not sure if they would honor the price as of Friday
Good Idea. I can always buy something.I found pe very reasonable. You can try to call them and explain. Maybe do not ask for money, but credit for next purchase...

Thank you all for your suggestions I am moving forward with my build and have some easy tech questions.
