MUSES02 pricing?

I intend to. The initial ones I bought from aliexpress are in a waste stream somewhere 🙂. The two that arrived yesterday are in an fx audio tube 03 and I'll purchase 1 or 2 from mouser or another of the official resellers for an amp purchase in a month or so.

A question I did have though is that the muse02's have been around since what 2012 or so. Surely some of the new/old stock could of found its way into the overseas market somewhere!.

To me thats quite enough information not to buy from aliexpress and the likes

It depends entirely on which seller you choose. Some are very good.

The fact they have non magnetic copper/zinc legs makes them interesting .

It also makes them 10x less likely to be fakes. They may be factory second quality or something like that, but I doubt that anyone went to the trouble of putting the copper legs on a fake chip. Most factories over there don't just discard their second quality runs, especially if they are very large and close to spec. They put them into a product and sell the product or sell them at low prices so the run isn't a total loss. Anything is possible I suppose, including completely reverse engineering the entire chip, which happens all the time.

Mouser is no indicator of what actual cost is. Their prices are insanely high in general. They have to pay for a lot of overhead expenses and labor, both of which are huge in the US.

I disagree, all their official distributors keep same prices +-5%. If they directly sell their product to others (other than manufacturers), they would state so.

Now, subpair muses are muses88xx series. What they call mass produced muses chips, as they bin muses0x. So i don't think subpair muses0x are sold underhand.

I don't see why chinese wouldn't produce copper legged ic that they can profit so much from.

Few more pics. Taken 1 out of the pre amp. Has d12 stamped on it

23 USD (shipping not included) ready to use immediately? And TWO of them?... Meanwhile Digikey is selling for 34 USD/GBP each chip...

Sometimes its simply markup, like Mouser and other price-controlled sellers as I pointed out earlier. They have higher overhead and price controls.

It's a surface-mount component so I guess it's not as appealing as the DIP-8 predecessors.

To people like me who just want to plug in and not solder, absolutely yes.

Burr-Brown OPA2604 is working for me, but they are becoming difficult to get genuine ones. Their bass and sub-bass are superior to the other chips I have tried.

Those kits are interesting. If its anything bigger than 0.5mm pitch I'm in. I can do through hole (built some c64 cartridges and a sixty clone). Can do surface mount with solder paste dip18 etc . Tried to do some qfp64 0.5mm pitch, bridged a few pins and just gave it up as a bad job 🙂.

I'm guessing no ones faking the smt stuff yet!.

Edit: muses05 is a single op amp .

Edit: I'm honestly not replying to myself, it seems you can only edit a message once.

No problem. I have done it myself. 😉 I think when I was new I got one edit, but after a number of posts the system gives you 30 minutes instead. The problem is that by that time someone often has responded.

Why don't you let what you have burn in for a few weeks and then do a critical listening evaluation? I think there is a very good chance they are legit. Too many people here are trying to trash them too quickly IMHO. I'd put them in for a few weeks and try them before proceeding. If they sound like garbage, that makes it more likely that they are fakes. If they sound fantastic, who cares what they are?

What are these going into?

Hi bud.

That's my plan. I'm not planning on purchasing anything else for while. I have to get things past the misses and its not an easy task 🙂.

I'm a fan of soldering up kits so might build a few in the future.

I'm also of the opinion that the muses02's are the real deal.
