I had to go to Digikey to find mine, and even now they appear to be out of stock. According to the product listing on their site, typical turnaround from the manufacturer is 25 days. So depending on the cycle you may not have to wait too long.

I just jumped into this project and was disappointed to find that both the Muses and STM microcontroller chips are not in stock in Europe (not at Mouser either). STM chip does not even have a lead time.
Any hints where I can find these items?

An encoder question.

I ordered a Volume Control Set from you, and its on the way.
During transport time I have look trough the documentation again and starting to look for component providers.
I have a question:
According to documentation, the volume steps are changeable by setup (0=0.25;1=0.5;2=1;3=2dB). As I understand it, the ALPS STEC11B encoder delivers 15 pulses/rotation, which give a maximum of 30 db volume change/rotation.
Soo:
- Will the volume control board decrease/increase volume by 30 db/rotation?
- Is it possible to change the encoder to one with the same characteristics but more pulses/rotation without causing any trouble in the programmed microcontroller?

While reviewing the schematics, I may have run into a pin labeling error on the Main Board. Presuming I read this correctly, the input and output signals for connection point X4-4 on the Muses interface area are reversed. Presuming the leftmost connection in the schematic is X4-4:1 and X4-4:3 is the rightmost, it is opposite of pin 1 on Volume Board.
If you’re stacking boards, you’ll probably never even notice it. My configuration will likely have them separated, and it might get wired out of phase if I’m reading the schematics as I believe them to be.
Board artwork is fine, though, so no worries. Likely not an issue for most. 🙂

Daniel - how critical is the value for R5/R6 on the ucontroller board? made a mistake and ordered one 2k7. The nearest I have spare for two is 3k3?

The resistors are I2C pull ups.
I think 2k2-3k3 is a good value.

Daniel, just to say thanks for your excellent service, your PCB's are lovely quality and very easy to build. Does my uController need the update flash? I'll buy the little widget.
Not sure if this is useful to anyone about to buy components for Meldano Muses boards, but I found some ultra miniature caps by Panasonic ECE to fit seated properly between boards. No reason other than making things tidy 😉

Prasi designed some tiny SMD dual regulators for me using DPak 78/79xx regs, they have rectifiers so can run the Muses from separate winding if necessary. I have had great success using diamond buffers on Muses output. Sjostrom super buffers are very good if you can handle the size. Muses and buffers both fed by the same SMD regs. A nice 'front end'. 🙂
