Mr White's "Opus", designing a simple balanced DAC

I got my Opus board and USB module but can't finish due to a little mix up. I did get the USB module working stand alone and must say it absolutely kills any sound card I've heard. So I don't know how much better the wolfson is but the PCM2707 thats on the USB module is quite awesome especially for the price 🙂 I'll have to give listening impressions when I finally get the opus working. I went ahead and ordered a second Opus board and Metronome too they should be here Saturday I believe. After that I believe the only thing I could do better is get the Buffalo. For now I have the Opus mounted in a Radio Shack parts box.

Well I got the Opus up and running this morning (just single opus board no metronome just yet they should be here monday) Anyways sounds excellent my only complaint is that its not forgiving of recordings at all. Some stuff I thought was pretty well recorded isn't sounding so well recorded. Not sure if the metronome will help with it at all I guess I'll have to see. Stuff thats recorded well sounds absolutely awesome though.

I just thought I should add to the chorus of positive comments/feedback on the TP Opus Dac.

This weekend I finally got mine set up (Metro/Dual Opus/Ballsie) fed I2S from CDpro2LF. All separate supplies, psu offboard.

With about five hours of running and three of listening, this is a very musical and rewarding dac. Sweet.

And to that I shall add a cryptic note to Brian Donegan - a big thanks for your help.

Now, about that Buffalo...

Ok then if I'm not using balanced connections then I'd just run 3 wires then? 1 to gnd and then 1 to left + and one to right -? Guessing I'd just run a jumper wire from the right - to left + and then the RCA connectors from there. This would be for the left channel of course.
