Come on Juan post the cool pdf🙂
yes I didn't think about sorry here we go guys

the relay is a common 12V 16A contact manufacturer part number is G2RL-1A-E-CF DC12 or DigiKey search engine part number Z3080-ND
the terminal contact where you see the letter "woofer" part number is 609-3927-ND
at the moment of this writing, for what I read in this section of the Apex HV23 the coils is 15uH ?
Regards
Juan

Nice pcb, coil is not 15uH but 15 turns on 10mm dia with 1,5mm wire.

2SA1837 hot
I made a pair of this project, and it sounds great. I´m in the process in adjusting the bias, and secceded I think. Hit around 14mV 5 minutes after startup. Without input, actually while adjusting the bias (or waiting for it to stabilize), I put a finger to the output devices IRPF9240/240, and the temp were OK - i guess around 40-50 degrees celsius - but the 2SA1837 is a lot hotter than the others - but not hotter than I could hold my finger on it. I guess around 60-70.
Is this critical/a problem, or am I just being paranoid? 🙂
Whether it is critical or not, I still think its odd that the driver tansistor(s) i running hotter than the actual output devices.
All IRFP9240/240 and 2SA1837+2SC4793 is on the same heatsink.

VAS transistors 2SA1837/2SC4793 work in class A with 30mA bias and must be hot.

In ither words, I was being paranoid. Thanks for clarifying 🙂VAS transistors 2SA1837/2SC4793 work in class A with 30mA bias and must be hot.

Simple Full Complementary Simetry +/-80V. Voltage amplifier/driver biased with 30mA. This driver circuit stabilized BIAS in output stage. Exelent stability without oscilation, hum and noise, sound great.
RMS Power: 240W 8ohm, 350W 4ohm

Hi apexaudio,
many Volt Input sensitivity of the amplifier?
One question plse. Will 53V+- and 60V +- rails be OK for 4 and 8 ohm speakers with three output pairs ?

Yes will be OK.

" i have lot of tip36c "
Can you buy some TIP 35C?
(they should be less than $1 each)
It is much simpler to build a complementary design.

It might be possible to design something to run on ±30VDC, the SOA gets really bad if you try and run them at higher voltages.

Thanks for your reply .............I am already using the TIP 35c and TIp36c in my designs. I have designs with output on NPN for both transistors. but the results differs a little bit. I would be glad to see a design with both output Tr in PNP and both P channel FETs.
Holton AV400 vs Apex HV23
Gooday all,
I intend building an IRFP 240/9240 amp with three output pairs per channel. I have came across the Holton AV400 and Apex HV23 which both uses the vertical fets and the power is closely related. Now, the question is which one to build ? It will be used in Hifi and needs have good sound. The load are 4 ohm speakers. I have a choice of two transformers, 2 x 300 VA 70Vdc or 1 x 800Va working at 50VDC. I tend to move towards Apex's amp as I have read some people had problems with the Holton amp due to bad documentation. All help will be appreciated. 🙂

i have build before the av400 amplifier and everything are ok. Now i am building another 4 channels Av400 so i will have totally 6 ch amplifier to tri-amp my speakers. the documentations for the av400 are fine. if you are designing and making your own pcb's i have the av400 pcb already designed with Orcad so if you want i cant send it to you.

BC517 equation
1. is there any equation BC517 .. I is difficult to find in this area.
2. if I replace Relay with 24V / 5A, what should I change.
please help sir,,
Mr. Mile, there are some questions about this psu7,You can draw schematic from pcb layout, it's simple circuit.

Boedy,
1) Try two BC547 (or BC548) in a darlington configuration;
2) Replacing a relay for 16A with another for only 5A will reduce the maximum power your system will withstand. Hence, maybe it won't last such a long time.
