Hi,
moOde release 3.8 is available at moodeaudio.org.
This release includes a great set of new audio capabilities and is built on a new moodeOS 3.0 platform using Raspbian Jessie Lite 2017-07-05 and Linux 4.9.40 Mainline and 4.9.40 Advanced Low Latency and Real-Time Audio kernels.
- Allo Piano 2.1 owners get full access to this DAC's features including Dual-Mono mode, Hardware volume control and 384K for the dual modes. Allo DigiOne and MiniBoss are also supported.
- MPD has been recompiled to version 0.20.9 using only libav codecs for reliability and consistency.
- There are also a variety of User Interface improvements and convenience features including on the Sources screen, "RE-MOUNT All NAS sources" and "RESET Library cache". This means fewer trips to the command line for routine operations.
Due to the change in OS platform this release is whole-image only. Existing moOde Product Key holders can upgrade to this release free of charge. Simply download the image zip and unlock it. 🙂
Enjoy!
-Tim

Synology NAS Config
If anyone has experience with Synology NAS 415 play configuration I sure could use some tips to get music files to load in Moode Browser. In Moode NAS config page I have a green check mark but have been unsuccessful adding any music files to the browser. when I save the config the updating message appears for perhaps 2 or 3 seconds. The same thing happens when apply rescan feature. The shared folder I am trying to link to is very large (1.1 TB) so I would expect updating to take a considerable time. So it no surprise the NAS browser is empty. I did not change any of the advanced Moode settings. I did change the Network settings to wifi and use my home network to control Moode.
I have tried another sd card with a fresh image and walked slowly through the configuration process but that has not changed the result.
On the NAS side I have used DSM software to set permissions for the Moode device which has an assigned ip 172.16.0.30. I found this ip address by using my router software. I privilege set to read/write Squash=No Mapping and security = sys and asynchronous is enabled.
Hope I have provided sufficient details and someone out there has found a good way to connect to Synology NAS and Moode.
Cheers

What about access to each of the sub-folders?
On the NFS permissions, I have ticked a box called allow users access to mounted sub folders. Is that what you were asking about? Cheers
Thanks for the 3.8 update Tim! Excellent: "Pi-Zero W supported in both Std and Adv kernels".

Just updated to 3.8 all is well so far but:
1) the configuration screen for System reports the file system expansion status as always unexpanded (you can check it with the system info pane though)
2) ssh login changed from pi:raspberry to pi:moodeaudio which now that I look is in the setup guide but not the change log.

All that i have tested works...
And the sound is a little better. A little more alert or lively.

hi TimHi,
To what location are u trying to save the files?
The dir /var/www is implemented as a compressed squashfs (read-only) file system. This provides improved reliability and performance.

Exactly I want to edit in WWW file. I want to improve the interface in my opinion. I do not think it is necessary to lock this information. Because of that I bought the open source license plate.

...Below are the steps I used with a brand new 3.7 image
from an SSH session (I use Putty)...
Hi Serverbaboon,
Sorry for my delay in getting back to you but I've been away and had no internet connection. Anyway, many thanks for your instructions re' updating upmpdcli et al, which are hugely appreciated 🙂
Hi,
I made my Moode streamer (Two SMPSUs – Pi3 and powered HUB, two linear PSUs, Dual DACs – ES9023 for music and USB/SPDIF for video, USB HDD ) about a half year ago. It sound superb – big thanks to Tim and all who wrote here.
But ...
Brilliant!
You should try SSD multiboot next 🙂

Thank you for the great work and fine tuning and updating it with an almost maniacal devotion to perfection.
Playing a few traces I noticed that some little glitches (similar to when a CD skipped) I head every now and then seem to have disappeared. In other words, processing seems to be smoother.
It had a weird behaviour though. After I inserted the image for the first time, the web interface did not activate. I had to log in via ssh, sudo reboot, and then it was there.
So far, all good and the sound seems to be a tad smoother and more natural. It is clear that the drivers and the kernels are improving steadily.
Roberto
Bugger...
TopTip: don't forget to save your custom radio stations first and then burn new moode 3.8 image.

With Kali/Piano 2.1 (Dual Stereo) and Moode 3.8 I'm getting playback with the Standard Kernel but no sound with either of the Advanced Kernels. Display still shows play but with the time clock counting backwards. If I try to set 'glb_mclkDisabled' it resets itself to 'Enabled' on reboot.
EDIT: I get sound with Advanced Kernels if I upsample to 24 bit/384kHz or 32bit/384kHz. 352.8kHz also works, but nothing lower. Sounds very good!!

Hey, great work Tim. I can finally play dsd and hi-res. Also, the ability to select artist in library view on the phone version of chrome is what was waiting for since switching to moode.
I am afraid the audio quality has quite dropped, sound became more aggressive, there is an increase in perceived resolution (due to artificially increased dynamics) but the actual resolution seems to have dropped also. It is hard to describe but I am not enjoying listening as I used to do in 3.7. Highs seem artificially too prominent and It becomes fatiguing .
Usually valid comparisons take a while so don't take my post too serious. I will report later and meanwhile, it would be interesting to know what changes could affect the sound signature and maybe get help in customizing if any.
Also is there a way to download the old 3.7 image?

SSH into MoODE
Must admit using bash commands will be a new experience. I selected Moode based on reviews indicating no bash commands needed. If I must use bash to get the NAS and MoOde working so be it. If you have a reference site or tool to help me learn bash commands handy please post link. Cheers
Ttry SSH into MoOde for command line access and chasing the mounted network drive down.
