Just take a gander at this comprehensive looking book on the psychology of hearing. For sure, nobody should go around pontificating on psychoacoustics without first mastering this essential information (and that includes me).

I read most of the relevant literature and didn't find the answers I was looking for.
Markus - I think that you might be searching for the "Holy Grail", or "Shangrila"! - they may not exist!
There are many times we read books, and sometimes memorize bits and pieces them, but never get to fully understand the knowledge involved. I once had a tooth ache, consulted one doctor, if I followed his advice, the tooth would have been gone in a few days; consulted a second doctor, he give me hope to keep the tooth, and I went with his recommendation without much thought on my own, and I lost the tooth in a few months. I then had another tooth with the same symptoms, and I decided to deal with it on my own, the tooth is still there after a few years, and I only had to change my sleeping and eating habit a bit.
There is an old Chinese saying, "it's better to have no books than totaqlly believing in what the book says"; while this saying may not be true in context, but indirectly, it's necessary to digest what a book says, learn and expand on the knowledge.

OK, I started a blog that I'm not really sure where it going, but I'm writing. So far everything in it is speaker measurements. If you guys would check it out and tell me if/where I'm going wrong and what you see that I'm missing in my commentary from the graphs shown would be nice. The link is in my signature.

Dan, all I can say is that this kind of thing only dilutes efforts here. Personally, I don't have the time to post here, but I try, because its important to express some "sound" opinions once-in-awhile. But as to going and posting elsewhere? It's not going to happen.
No worries Dr. Geddes. It really wouldn't be posting. I was just hoping people may read and send me edits if and where I've gone wrong and suggest what they think is important that I've left out. This could be used as a resource instead of getting diluted in threads with a dozen side arguments that get off topic. Anyone is welcome to do so.

In another forum, I said that by the age of 80, if no significant improvements in turntables, ocurred, I'd consider spending time doing that.😀
doug20- I know you mean well but your boiling point and then closed mind seems to be reached before you consider a possibility your paradigm needs correcting. Don't be so foolish as confuse "unknown" with "anonymous." I am reasonable well know in professional audio and possibly have more product in professional recording studios than Harman. I never have seen even one Harman product in a studio. Items pre-Harman yes but nothing of Harman. As for Toole, if he does not care for what I say I wonder why I have emails in my mailbox from him? Interesting you are so willing to put words in his mouth. I wonder what Toole would think about that? Likewise emails from from Walt Junge and Bob Pease to name a couple of other famous people. I was never interested in fame and found most famous people were not the "cream of the crop" though some are. If you ever listen to American broadcast news on television then you have listened through products I have worked on used by over half the large broadcasters. I believe your not understanding my writings simply shows lack of background in these maters unfamiliar to you. Toole has not helped me at all. It may interest you to know I worked with Coding Technologies on a consulting basis to perfect Codings' +SBR technique. Wonder why I would get paid $175/Hr to a guy who knows nothing to perfect an audio product which you would claim me to completely unknowledgeably. Please do not spread insults or negative insinuations about me simply because you are ignorant of my work and clearly do not understand what I say. As I always say, "it is better to ask questions and attempt to understand than to talk and reject things you do not understand." This is a functional learning process and not a religious experience.
As for "my own" products, those are in over 20 countries but mainly in the U.S.A. Products I have designer for others have production number in the millions. I left amateur and consumer products quite a long time ago because of the fickle nature of the consumer buyer. Instead I found my methods and what professionals in recording studios wanted lined up very well.
When someone says this I always wonder how that person determined what was "relevant" before reading the material? Have many times found the best answers in the most unlikely places. This being the main draw to read DIYaudio. There are some here showing a very rational approach to their personal take method on loudspeaker design. Then there are many on DIYaudio looking for some "guru" to follow.
Quite a few have ask me to name my favorite authors. I always like Paul Klipsch. Very entertaining and informative guy. I do not choose authors and then follow their word as a lemming. So instead of naming authors how about a few handy places I used to like to read. Most of what I have read or read is not online but the product of private companies and pre "the computer has the answer" age. These are just a tiny sampling. Many would be surprised at how much non-published work has been done to validate test products and real life simulators for human use. Search under any search term desired and start reading.

Out of all the PdDs that I know, about 80% got them because it would give them a better chance in the job market, 10% really know how to integrate their work into real project knowledge, 90% are either in management, teaching, and political positions. I respect PhDs for making the effort to get the diploma. Of course many have contributed significant knolwedge that inspired good engineering work, but in my experience, none has been directly applyable without some degree of modification.
