Still reading...
Good evening gentlemen,
I'm still on reading this long thread... many things I can't understand ! What is noise ? I guess it makes real noise 😉 some electric disturbances ? I understand nothing on electronics, makes things hard to read... also, it seams the mechanic can be improved ? I've seen some " loads " on the plastic, or the coffe cup ?
I'm sorry to be such a burden here =(
I think I'll put a pic and explanations each time I upgrade something, so you can guide me and correct me if needed, and if you all allow me to !
And if I understand well, my CD53 is already HDAM bypassed ?
also about the forum, how do I edit one of my messages ? (many english mistakes I'm ashamed of...)... and also you listen to music I never heard of before...
That's all for now, good night guys 🙂

Re: Still reading...
You can start dampening by sticking pads of bitumen (available in carshops) to the chasis and to some places of the transport.
HDAM is left out of the cd53, correct.

Re: Still reading...
Yes the CD53 has the HDAM bypassed but you only get good gains when you upgrade the opamps and bypass the output caps.

Nice job Brent.
Are those Holco resistors?
How does it compare to opamps?
Regards, Jaap
They are Welwyn 0.1% resistors.
The pcb is not fitted as yet. Hopefully that will happen this week if I get a few spare minutes.
Im going to test it on a cd67 here at work first.

Hi Brent
your going to have to try the fet version too.
allan
ps 0.1% resistors?
the best caps are only 1%

Brent,
Maybe correct ends for grounding is something to add to your list, as the data flow is only known to educated modders 🙂

I was going to do the FETs but could not find any 2SK170. So ive gone transistor first until I source them.
PS I like those resistors and they are cheap enough. Best to be over the top if you ask me

Hehe I should do really....but!
The reason I never put it in is because people will start questioning what I do (it does happen alot) and I can't be arsed with that side of things. There are a few little things I left out of the mods list.

Hey Brent,
Nice one! I'm curious what you think of the sound. Transistors also work well. I'm about to upgrade my output stage with Holco's and a nice big Auricap output cap. Should reveal even more!
Looks like your PCB is a good move Jaap!

What gains do you expect me to get over the opa132 opa627 combo?
Also have you tried those LCR caps im going to use.

Re: Re: Still reading...
The bypass has be done with the help of Ray 😉
Some opamps on the way through sample programs... 🙂

CD63 not playing all discs?
Whatsdiz?
My second 63 doesn't play all discs. It didn't show up before because my collection digital audio is not that large. I have five discs that play good in other players but are refused by 'Lizzy'.
I already cleaned out the transport, the lense and all connections. When inserted the player gives within 1 second the 'disc' message.
Sevice Mode gives Err10 (Radial error).
Confused, Jaap

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Still reading...
I'm stupid and red the list after... and in fact it seems there is many diffrent types for the same, with many letters after...
So here what'll be send :
OPA124UA
OPA227P
OPA627BPG4
AD8610BR ( wish I'd ordered 8620... ='( I'm so stupid ! )
AD8671ARM-REEL
AD8671AR
Can I use some ? Maybe I'll ask for 8620 after this first pack... as I'll change of adress soon =)

Hi Brent,
This weekend I spent some more time doing another comparison between opamps and a FET output stage. I like the soundstage of the FET stage better. It is very wide with lots of air, and has far more depth compared to the opamps. The music is less attached to the speakers. But I found the bass less tight. I use OPA124 + AD8610 at the moment.
I don't know how the LCR's sound, but if it is a decent MKP it should be ok. Is it film and foil or metallized?
