At the dutch Amplimo website the 30VA is 7cm diameter.
Ray.
I would prefer a higher VA rating to give better headroom and regulation.
Andy
Yeah, you're right about that.
It won't hurt to put in a bigger tranny, but I think i'm going to figure out first how much current is actually needed. I would rather use the extra diameter to fit in a nice earth-screen between primairy and secondairy, or have a medical spec. tranny instead.

Would that fit???
Don't think so. Looks like 75 mm is the maximum diameter,
otherwise C804 gets in the way...
Good point 6h5c. I looked with tray out. lol
To be honest the only two mods mr KI did over SE was TX and copper chassis. And we all know there is quite a good improvement.
So a custom TX that fits (70mm) will be a very good mod for a 63 or SE (IMHO)
After that use smaller TX for certain rails.

Just make a big external psu, you know you want to
I'm gonna put a tx or two in a big box to join my lonely clock psu's tx, and connect the unsmoothed dc to the player via a DIN plug I reckon. Then smooth it in the player, or smooth it some more in the player. The original tx may have to be removed too, but I might break something in the process.

Hmm, I wasn't gonna replace it, sorry Brent! I was just gonna externalise it to get it away from the player. As much as anything it worries and annoys me the way it flops around when I'm working on the pcb. I broke one of the connections once... might aswell take it out and wire it so a molex connector or two, or a motherboard ATX power connector. Only slightly crap thing is the power switch would then be redundant. Hmm, I could remove the button and install some UV LEDs in there.......... hmmmm
I use a cable tie when working on pcb to hold TX.
Leave the switch there!!!
6h5r.. dont forget alot of people have larger caps too so there is even less room
I also have large HexFRED diodes that get in the way.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Oh, I will take a little corner of the tray in that case
Ray.
rowemeister said:Ray... so you have a 63 KI TX?
No, no, I didn't realize that Simon has a KI also. I thought he was talking about a standard 63
Sorry.
