Marantz CD63 & CD67 mods list

Hi, I have installed the flea with PSU and SQ is very good! Pictures attached.

I am ready to start Ray's DOS CFP board. I have some questions about the hook-up. For the right side is U210 and CD16 the input point (left U211 and CD15)? Does the output go straight to the RCAs? Does power come from U228 and 229? Does anyone have advice on how to position it (ie where to drill into the main PCB)? Wouldn't it sound better with non-electrolytic output caps? Henry

"Does anyone have advice on how to position it (ie where to drill into the main PCB)?"

I am part way through setting up Ray's DOS board, and after much deliberation, I and my mentor have decided to cut it in half – already done, a Dremel does the job a treat – and mount the 2 halves on the side of the player where you have mounted what looks like the power supply for your Flea. I have the Flea mounted on the same side of the player where I plan to mount the 2 halves of the DOS, and there is just room for the Flea and the 2 small DOS boards.

If time I will post a pic later.

Hi,

The outputs of the DOS can go straight to the RCA's indeed, but you may want to insert a muting-circuit to suppress any switching noises. I added room for an electrolytic output cap on the board, to have something to start with, but a high-grade MKP capacitor will give much better results.

The four inputs of the DOS-board (+In and -In) are connected directly to the outputs of the DAC (LO/LON and RO/RON, QD01). You have to remove the 10k resistors RD21 thru RD24 for that.

All you need then is a decent +/-12V power supply and connect it to the DOS. No CD15/CD16 or U228/229...

This is the new DiyAudio Jung/Didden +/- SuperReg board which I'm building to replace the 7X12 regs on my DOS. I sourced all the components for this easily from Mouser.

Regarding the parts for my DOS build, I selected components very carefully from several different vendors all over the world: UK, US, Canada, Japan, France... It took a while. I already had the Black Gates, fortunately.

Not a cap, no. The power supply. The pins aren't labelled on the silkscreen, and the pin ordering on the schematic is reversed from that of the PCB. No excuse of course. It was a cap that exploded. I'm not sure what other damage was done. I should've left it til the morning.
