first sounds were with 18ohm serial resistor, with those impedance spikes there was 3 notch and shelf filter.
i didnt like it that much, i believe those spikes does something to sound even with wanted fr
so its now like this.

single active notch needed with this one.

Got a small taste of the Mannis-Monsters. Not too varied music selection and not very critical listening and deliberate error seeking (like pumping the volume and searching the drawbacks, kinks etc. that manifest at higher levels), more like casual listening and they left an overall good and mature impression. Bass is quite taunt and very controlled but does not attract any attention to itself in a good way. Future will maybe bring 2x15"😉 Mids also nothing that draws attention to them, seemed to work well in JBL horn. The hf section is still slightly under futher development, maybe this is justified and the current driver is not finale even after smoothing the throat transition, who knows. There was a slight hint or metallic sidetaste, but it was not offensive because of the echo end listening distance "chews" the sound before it hits the ear, just a tonal color thing. Tonal balance was very neutral, not slightly dark-ish like some times previously, maybe manninen has learned to love also the hf😀.
The previously mentioned/speculated hf and mid horn integration was very good. The bands are not physically co-axial so the source does not sound too point source, but nothing wrong with that, works to that listening distance like that. Center phantom image is quite high to which I'm accustomed to many of my previous systems. Transition between the mid/hf was seamless and cohesive and also the tonal color of the bands had the sameness illusion, the mid driver being more transparent "hey I'm not here", maybe.
I would like to hear those speakers with a puristic passive setup, finale comp driver and 2x15" front facing quild woofers with both a 5w tube amp and some nice sand amp😀.

I like your solution with the 2384 and CD.
Which driver are you using for mids and what is xover points?

Rudolph the red nosed reindeer wishes merry christmas and best acoustic performance 2021 for all.

Gave christmas present to myself. ADI-2 pro fs r black edition.
now i have analog and digital attenuator. Amp oversample everything to 96k, adi-2´s most consumer friendly DAC mode seems to prefer 44.1 out so im going with that but sure i can do 96 straight from laptop.
At least i can tell difference if its coming from teac spotify or from cd digital

yeah, been looking for replacing single 12" on front with dual 15", i think it would be more balanced with large waveguides.
THIELE-SMALL PARAMETERS
Fs 38.20 Hz
Qms 13.41
Qes 0.232
Qts 0.228
Vas 133.31 Litres
Mms 125.14 grams
Re 6.35 Ohms
Sd 829.6 cm2
Xmax* ± 6 mm
Cms 0.139 mm/N
BL 28.70 T.m
Le at 1kHz 1.17 mH
oberton pd600 could be it, mms vs. blre/2 about 1:1. 400hz crossing 125g mms could be just about right.

those might need even more flattening than strong BMS mid woofer, triple sd sure can handle it.

Thats a nice driver.... Never seen it before, thanks for posting.
I really like the low Qts and the excellent Mms to Bl ratio.
Good Xmax, high power handling/good VC cooling, high Qms and build quality .... Nice!

I have used two really great 15 inch drivers that I can highly recommend...
The awesome ( but expensive) Precision Devices PD 158
http://www.precision-devices.com/file-downloads/PD158-DATASHEET-310114.pdf
and the amazing value Beyma 15 P80 fe
LOUDSPEAKER 15"P80Fe/N 8 OH
They both feature low Mms/high Bl, ultra low Qts and superb power handling/ low thermal compression (esp the PD 158)
They are very close in sound quality, I have used them a lot over the last 6 to 8 years in active 2 way and 3 way designs.
If pushed I would summarise the differences as the PD 158 is slightly better above 100Hz and the Beyma is slightly better below 100 Hz.
If used as a three way the midrange 100Hz to 500Hz on the PD 158 is the best I have ever heard.
If using in a two way system the Beyma has a more accurate and extended low end.

My second option is audax pr380m2, i want to hook these parallel and dont wanna go under 3ohm min.
pd158 ok too, re 5.low usual simulates too low for my like

Borrowed faital hf108 to test in jbl horns. 0 and 45degs compared to bms 4522.
seems that 4k bump is coming from horn. 4 drivers tested and best has been allready sold b&c de25 🙂 story of my life.
gotta try some felt padding inside horn if it helps, might be throat opening angle issue
I wouldn't use high power handling, low QTS woofers for home. After comparing B&C 15NW76- 0,21QTS with 18Sound 15W700-0.3QTS , JBL 2226 - similar, and 2035HPL-0,34 QTS I wouldn't use anything below 0.3., 0.34-0,39 and lower wattage are sound better. Low QTS high power handling drivers = power hungry and use for high SPL.
I measured my Qts=0.2 Oberton 15nmb600 and it was very similar to my qts= 0.6 Acoustic Elegance 15m.....Outside of high/low frequency roll off there were plenty of similarities, in particular in the desired passband.

Whats the Burst Decay look like...a 15" has a mode around 450hz doesn't it?oberton pd600 could be it, mms vs. blre/2 about 1:1. 400hz crossing 125g mms could be just about right.

I was thinking, is it Rudolph?!Rudolph the red nosed reindeer wishes ...
Strong motor driver seems to sound better under high amount of eq. bms 12N820 sounds better than das12P under similar shaped response and das need little less eq. ok bit harsh to compare cheap and expensive driver. enclosure limited to 160L sealedI wouldn't use high power handling, low QTS woofers for home. that is just to show how much eq there is, driver is bms 12N820. i might not file for this anymore.Whats the Burst Decay look like...a 15" has a mode around 450hz doesn't it?
I'm not sure what you measured, but in reality AE produce 2dB more in LF (40-100Hz) and without of EQ there is no comparison to low QTS transdusers. In low QTS drivers 200-700Hz will outrun LF by 6-7dB. If you apply an EQ and lot's of power it'll be another story, but we are talking about home use.I measured my Qts=0.2 Oberton 15nmb600 and it was very similar to my qts= 0.6 Acoustic Elegance 15m.....Outside of high/low frequency roll off there were plenty of similarities, in particular in the desired passband.
P.S. We are not talking about horns.

Maybe start doing real measurements and not sims? Let me see your simulated Bust decay lol. Not that its anywhere near accurate...just making a point. FR can be changed with electronic filters... I don't think the roll off is so dramatic that eqing this driver a 0.5Q would an issue to achieve....so whats left? Decay characteristics surrounding the different modes a driver can have (Fs, Break Up, etc), with an actual mic and driver you can see this stuff. Not with the sims you posted though.
