I didn't download schematic, because it's there for years and also uses hard to find transistors, so I decided not to build it.
Also, posting schematic without author's permission is no-no.
Those are small laterals and there is no direct replacement for them outside of the same family (2sj76,77,78,79/2sk213,214,215,216). You could use some nice verticals like 2sk2013/2sj313 but the circuit had to be redesigned to deploy them (different Vgs/Id, different tempco, etc...).
...I don't have that Andrew...just a PDF with the project....if the moderators think it's best please remove the schematics.
IME, rubber, plastics, leather and denim can be highly degenerated, wood and metal pretty much too, and the glass will break first...

Sorry Buzz, I still don't get it ...
What would you want to degenerate and what does it have to do with material (they are all silicone made) ?
Maybe you mean the MOSFET build type (verticals vs. laterals) ?
If so, why would you want to degenerate cascoding devices ?

On the lateral vs vertical front. I am currently playing with a pre that has the verticals as the main gain device and was looking into whether or not the laterals mentioned above had a more favorable tempco, allowing for less degeneration in the design while still maintaining stability. Didnt know if you had any personal experience with these particular devices. Bit OT, sorry
