The koala finally arrived, exhausted. I took him over to Riverbanks and introduced him to the residents. The JFETs went out late yesterday afternoon.
Assuming that the JFETs arrive in Australia safely, I'll be able to put this whole project to bed.

I am really slow, but I would like to buy some of your Lovoltech LU1014D JFET's if you still have any available.
Thanks, Chris

LU1014DA vs LU1010DA
Hello,
would it be possible to replace the LU1014D power fet by the LU1010D from the same manufacturer : they seem to have very similar characteristics (see LU1010D datasheet at the new Lovoltech company web site www.qspeed.com)
Thanks

James wrote to say that the JFETs have arrived in Australia safely. At this point, I am turning off the lights and locking the doors. The JFET buy has officially concluded.
Anyone who wants to buy JFETs is welcome to post in this thread, but I'm going to unsubscribe and you may or may not get an answer.
Thanks, folks, it's been mostly good...and the parts that weren't so good were at least educational.
Signing off...

P.S.: Parts with similar specs will generally perform similarly. There will be differences in mounting systems and so forth so heat management may be a problem.
Your mileage may vary and all the other usual disclaimers apply.

this is a gooood news
Ok I still take the train for the zen9.
Amazing!!!

The JFET datasheet tells us it can be used for low-side switch, but with the normally-on characteristic, how do we construct its circuit architecture?

Approximately 7x more expensive than the group buy. Guess people will charge what they can.
If I remember correctly the group buy including distribution, import tax, paypal fee, and transportation ended up somewhere around EUR 2,00 per piece. This seller takes 3,60€ for a part that is now obsolete, so what are you on about.
P.S. I don't have any connection to this seller.

Really, there isn't tax and shipping on this part?
What I'm on about is people grabbing stocks and then charging the moon for them.

Hey, come on! I have to pay my staff (and many other things). I can not offer parts for factory prices nor i am a group buy organizer.
And yes, i make money on things i am doing. That is the way how all this works and how all of us (i hope so) get an income.
Best regards,
Ralf

Ralf,
Good to see you making a profit, staying in business and still offering to stock very low turn-over products for reasonable commercial prices.
The group buy price have little resemblance to retail realities.
- I don't think that many of the people who have taken advantage of the Extraordinary Service that Grey Rollins did for us, not just supplying these fets at the bulk 2500unit wholesale price (but also then measured them all!), actually realise just how much effort it takes to do this and AT NO PROFIT AT ALL.
Now, Grey's Jfets are all gone, and people aren't trading them yet, so the only place where they are available in small numbers is from Audioprojekte and we are now required to pay the RETAIL PRICE for them, and lucky to get them at all.
It just appears expensive, in comparison to the group buy.

Seems very reasonable to me.The man has to make a living. The device is very special in this world of DIYAUDIO(so far only one application).Odd that you as an American would question the profit thing.
Hi People ,
the Price from audioprojekte is not so
bad , becauce what i had paid from
the group buy is nearly the same .
With shipping and all other cost
it was nearly the same.
And that was called non profit .
The Lovoltechs cost 1€ from the company
but only if you buy 2500 pieces .
Greetings from Germany

It is well recorded that I have purchased 100 pieces directly from Grey and distributed among a handful of people here in Europe. They have full records of the account as what we pay for what (Grey, bank fees, paypal fees, import tax, delivery, ....., etc.).
We did pay per JFET about Euro 3.60, for your reference. There were some money left in the exercise which we donated to Unicef.

other use for the Lu1014
Just to add my few cents (!) worth.
The final cost here ended up at just belowAu$3/ item - it's quite a surprise to see your final Euro price - you've seem to have a lot of extra costs over there. Adds up!
Sandstorm,
I got an extra pair of F3 pcbs from Peter Daniels and scaled down the Cct to Id of 250mA for driving my AKG K701 h.phones (60R load) - remarkable result, particularly with different power supplies.
Another use of these amazing Jfets.

Good for you.
100 pcs matched from Grey were already over 2 Euro per piece (with the exchange rate then), plus US insured post to Europe, plus bank charges for the transfer from Germany to an US account since Grey did not take Paypal, plus 30% import tax, plus delivery within Europe (insured), plus packing.
I don't think one needs to take out a calculator to figure out that it is not going to come to AU$3-, in our particular case.
