I'm sorry Olav, I didn't mean to cast doubt. I realize the final result is always dependent on the speaker, room, type of music, etc. I've often been pleasantly surprised by unusual amp/speaker combinations myself.
I just wanted to fairly point out that the amp doesn't have a lot of gain to begin with and as we lower the load impedance we also lower the gain.

I have never heard of a 7.5 to 1 ratio.
Many claim the perception is: a low power tube amp sounds and plays as loud as a SS amp at twice the power. It is a soft distortion thing and tube/SS are never apples to apples in implementation (power supply stiffness, etc.), so variations are always subject to different perceptions and thus the argument proceeds.
Ohms law is still intact.

SITs also clip gracefully, resulting in greater apparent power, but it's a subjective thing.

Apparent power was a poor choice of words since it has another meaning in electricity. It is more accurate to say that SITs, like tubes, clip gracefully, and this soft overload characteristic creates the impression of greater headroom.
This is noticeable on complex dynamic passages that usually collapse into a jumbled mess with other solid-state amps of similar power.

Hi there Michael and the rest...
Glad to hear - cause my newly built ClassD is Much better in that respect(i.e displaying every nuance in it`s proper place sonically, even in tightly recorded musical landscape) - much better than my old HarmanKardon HK980. And more dynamic even than the old Beast HK980!!
So I will stay on course - this year - keep on getting all the stuff, halogen bulbs and heat sinks and the rest.

but is more than impression ,sorry if I don't remember well but this difference (10db ) come from a trustable user like Thorsten L. or so...
plus some amps works in A2...

for Germans or EU fans i would recommend this....🙂 though compared to the US price of a 300W bulb fairly expensive..........😱
one has 23 Ohm, two of them should be in the range...
Mike do you think they are o.k.? 150W/230V
if I get today a second bulb in the city I will compare the sound to my CCS....😀

With this solution you get too many bulbs in parallell - i.e 230v x 230=52900 divided on 150=352 ohm. Then you have to parallell many such bulbs to get 12 ohm! Why not choose 150 watt/24 volt small halogen bulbs. 3 bulbs in seriell will give you approximately = 11,52 ohm and 3x 150watt= 450 watt. Easier wattage than many 230/150 watt big bulbs?

Here we go, not much but everything I could find. I can get the complementary also, but it's not relevant for this design.

Capacitance is lower, which is nice. Dissapation is lower, which isn't so good. Drain resistance is higher. Apparantly, it is one-half of a 2SK82, which Jon Lord has pointed out elsewhere. I suppose, if you had a really well matched pair you could try them in parallel.
You could try one at around 15Vds, 1-1.5A and see how it goes, but why not just buy the 2SK82?. Do you have a stash? 🙂
