On the schematic they be like that ?
Must be sure no ruin working amp with wrong wiring.
Yes with pleasure i write you what cap versus input transformer sonic difference is 🙂
Yes. I don't really know how to connect unbalance to unbalance with transformer, but I think 3 doesn't have to connect to l'amp. 5 could be connected to ground of both preamp and l'amp, but in case you have ground loop hum, you can float ground from one side.
YES Plasnume too.
I'll go ahead and make another version with a single supply. 🙂

Good news i not need be worry about high temperature.
After few hours heat sink are hot without burning sensation.
Btw drills of TO-3 holes in L profile inside the kichen was my last time 😀
For final version i do this with adapted professional workshop tools.
Yes they not go far in low frequencies but for small acoustic band´s music like
classic with piano and quartet of strings, jazz and traditional folk music is sufficient.

Haha song text are full of joy 😀 Best regards
Input Capacitor
I was think solder transformer on place of 10 uF Muse cap but i change my mind.
I try what happen if i change for other capacitors first.
Let's have fun little longer before game with input transformers.
What i can say now they all bring his touch of personality to input signal.
Under test was PIO brick from Russia, ASC and Bosch all with 0,1 uF Ero MKP.
Preamp is switched on high gain output , full volume show on the photo.
Iron was cheap in Western Electric golden age , cap's was scarce to get contrary this modern days

Play with Inductor 193V L'Amp now 🙂
L`Amp resistor version with OB
Hi to all.
My SK82 homemade L`Amp has been giving me pleasure for several year now. And with the addition of the LuminAria(also with SK82) it is an never-ending joy in music.
And the last year (in my past-sickness time) build me a version of the Betsy OB - my old Alpair 12P is mostly resting in the background. The 8" driver fills the room and is softer and nicer soundwise? More substance to voices and more involvment in OB-solutions. Maybe get an OB-planar to fill in the upper end of the spectrum - maybe. The Alpair 12 is more distinct and hifi right!
So my journey in Hi-Fi is at a halt and for the moment just enjoying music and trying to recuperate in this pre-oldtimer moment😉

OlavHaal, very lovely system and the room. OB and l'amp is very new to me, but I have been impressed with the combination of them since last week. I now feel I understand what you're saying about hi fi. My OB is still conventional multi way, so I would definitely try full range this summer. I feel like I'm walking on the same path that many people here walked through long time ago. 🙂

Done today and now i understand better MR and NP who say " Work like glue " 😀
Thnx
Thank you Soundhappy - very satisfied at last with the setup - and OB 8" Betsy gives a much fuller and tonally richer sound than the Alp12P. Especially with the SIT`s involving soundstage!:😎

I can only agree. LuminAria really shines and if i had only a pair of 2sk82 (or 2sj82) left i would rather use it in a preamplifier.
As for Betsy, she is good company in and outside pre-oldtimer moments, a lot of music for the buck, or as Steve Deckert said: " you would be a fool not to try them.
Yea (if my memory serves me well - B.Dylan)
Hi jostwid and thanks!
Yea - feeling relatively well after chemoterapy and some years of work now. The worst part is my memory and focus that is VERY bad! But have tried 2 month at work and monday 29may going back to a full schedule!
Better to jump into it, still 4 years till retirement.
And as regarding the OB-Betsy: I have now the miniAMT from Dayton as supertweeters with 1uf capacitor(11-12kHz) and they fill the room in a nearly similar way my friends MartinLogan does. And they give warmth and touch even in the lower octaves that my Alp12P was missing.
So agree with you and Steve Deckert: try this fabolous driver. It maybe the mixture of paper and carbon that gives the good midrange (I also built a couple for my friend who is a guitarplayer with some arthritis)

One of the reasons to build class A amps is the heat they produce. Keeps the arthritis of us elderly somewhat at distance...

I'm curious which you like better, Transformer or Cap.
With the input transformer music is smooth and natural.
Caps are good too i don't have teflons yet.
Last change was MKP bypass for 10000 uF.
LSK jfet's + autoformer gain stage can be interesting experiment.
I can make try this but not easy because i always work on circuit with schematic
and his components values: jfet's Idss, resistors, trimmers ( caps too?) etc.
Brave souls please guide me
