Hi Klass,
To220 and isolation/thermal pads are compatible.

Modify your torquing technique to stay within the tightening specification of the component manufacturers.

One other point to look out for are sharp edges on the components that could/will dig into the plastic insulation material. Remove any burrs that are present.

Some builders suggest honing the backs of the contact surface completely flat . 600wet/dry silicon carbide paper is pretty good for this.

You're right Andrew. this happened almost 15 years ago, you could call me "mechanically challenged" back then. Doing mechanical work for 13 years set me straight in that respect.

My point was mainly that simple mestakes can be hard to diagnose given the right circumstances. In this amp the output-signal was on the mounting-tabs of the to-220's (hexfets) so the arcing only occurred when playing loud. Afterwards there was no sign of arcing on the hexfets or the heatsink, just the burnt-out hexfets .over and over and over again...

I'll look into it. You will probably have to pay a bit more since those aren't the same as the other batch. I'll get back to you when I've checked.

And badges. The thing that limits them is the presence of a Logo. That has to be in Vectorformat. As long as it is plain text all he needs is an Exelfile with the text exactly as you want it.

As an example, if it says "Krell KsA50" then thats what the badge will say (not KSA).

just send me an Exelfile with the text you want. Have in mind that you need to write it in the correct size and font. As long as the physical size doesn't differ, your in the clear.

Well not trying to be a stick in the mud. But I plan to buy one small that would be for the KSA 50, but would like another one, for my future project, the KSA 100. So what do I do? Do I just order two small, with the KsA 50, one for me and one for Mark. And then hope we do an order for the KSA 100 down the road? Or is their enough space for me to scratch KsA 50+50 on the small or large plate?
Sorry if I am nitpicking. Three days away from summer vacation and I get my first driving ticket ever, in 37 years. They put a new stop sign during the Memorial Weekend, and there was a cop just sitting on that little goldmine. Now its court time during my vacation days...

Well, you could scratch in +50 if you want but take a look HERE (easier than quoting)
The text-part can be altered and still made in the same batch.

So, badges with the "KSA-50" substituted for "KSA-100" can be made in the same batch.
So, If anyone want badges for the future KSA-100 projects that is OK too.

Gee these posts accumulate, I had to go back 100+ posts to confirm the size. 20 by 40 and 40 by 80.

Can you confirm the fonts and sizes you used in the two examples?
