BTW --- There are some solvable issues... minor... but headphones definitely don't have any room influence on the sound. About as near-field as you can get. Try my headphone amplifier in Linear Audio.

I agree. Headphones keep you away from room acoustic interaction issues.
No need to turn music listening through loudspeakers into a confinement act (space wise, social wise) 🙂

Not to mention that most domestic environments require some compromise with other dwellers. Speakers and room treatment rarely can go in the best location. And not everyone wants a room full of modern art looking diffusers and absorbers taking over.

I pity the poor soul who ends up with me in this regard. 😀

By 'attitude' I mean the gang/gun/drug culture/violence etc inherent in the hip hop world.
IMO Steve Albini has a healthy attitude, including his no respect for the 'pop music industry' which has always been run by 'gangsters in suits'....now it's real gangsters.

There is always this 'interesting' take on modern music's downward spiral that has been kicking around for a few years now:

Luckily I have no issues with room placement at home. My wife loves music too, so even the large-ish speakers aren't a problem. Not even in the bedroom. 🙂

On that score I am a lucky devil. I have a stereo in almost every room including the garage. Even our bathroom has a set of in-walls. So does the kitchen.
