I have an original BOZ using the IRF610 mosfet as the gain device.

Thanks Fred
I don't know with the BOZ, but I have Aleph L (all active version) which I love. Currently a prefer (forgive AL) the BOJZ. I don't want really to compare though. (I reported my listening impressions some pages ago, if you're interested).
Hope it helps.
Try it, you won't regret.

As for the load question, I had a 10K pot at the output. It was not a good idea.

Done!

I just finished it, works excellent! It draws around 6 mA per channel. I divided the supply by putting 220 ohm resistors and then 1000 uF+100 nF capacitors. Voltage drop across these resistors is
1, 333 V. Source resistors are 2x27 ohm in parallel (somewhat bigger-I just had them in a box), other values are just as in the original schematic. I strongly encourage everyone to build this one. Looks like a toy, but...:cloud9:

Super Vix🙂 Nice to see your are done and like the sound too.
Being such a simple circuit, it sounds surprisingly good.

in fact- just because of this 😉
Remember it began like this :

"Maybe you would like to try this first. (NP)
Attachment: jfet boz small.pdf
This has been downloaded 593 time(s)."

Be aware, Nelson Pass is an old Hippy, and every time he throws a bomb in the diyaudio community, he takes care to do it in sibilant manner.

But there is still a problem : such a simple circuit which is so good sounding is not political correct.

just remember - one tiny fact is almost neglected in overall picture - using bateries helps in this case same as simplicity of stage

Yes, you are right ofcourse🙂 It doesnt get much simpler than this.
The battery power works very well. It is very quiet indeed. Not even the slightest trace of hum.

Excactly, thats why we are waiting for a pumpkin. Confused? You wont be after next episode😀

OK the circuit in its perfection is simple. But why should the PSU be simple too?

:devilr:

edit : OK the circuit in his simplicity is perfect. But...who said the PSU...

Manu

Then F2 wouldn't be politically correct as well :clown:

Actually, when I started this thread, I didn't expect that it will develop as it did..Again :worship: to Nelson!
This preamp is becoming very enjoyable gadget. I love it! (and yes, it sounds better than BOZ)

point is-forgive me if I tell something you already know (WTF is this to me today,I'm too polite @#$%^) ........it's hard to make PSU to beat battery.

if active stage is so simple - with dreky noise and ripple rejection ,accent is moved to PSU .............
so-choice is simple ,use battery when you can

remember Hiraga amp,with car batteries?

even if I'm probably not capable to construct something like thi- this amp is pretty dreky, from technical point of view......

use reg PSU instead zeppelin batteries ,and that sort of amp will loose all magic

Vix: Yes, thank you for starting this thread.
Nelson, we will never praise him enough, is gun is spitting divine flowers. :worship:(Is it correct?)

I had some more extraordinary listening experiences with the BOJZ. But I am boring you with my Baroque Musicke.
