To me, that's ugly as hell, but... beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so what do I know? 🙂

Or in the eye of the owner. Usually those who like show off with their newly acquired money.

It is quite astonishing that France seems to be the country with the highest density of 15" woofers in home hifi applications.

Here's a sample of my Carver Amazing Platinum Mark IV dipole ribbon/woofer speakers. My kitchen/dining/living room is untreated, with windows covering most of the two outside (18' wide) walls. The ceiling is a peaked 12' blueboard with plaster, and the floor has burbur carpet.
The FR seemed to be least affected by the sidewalls and furniture at a distance of 2' from the ribbon tweeter. I EQ'd via REW and remeasured at this sweet spot.
The noise floor is very high in the <20 Hz area, and may contribute to the high distortion there. Also, the dipole woofers fall off at the expected rate after 30 Hz.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

It certainly won't win design awards, but the same is true for most large format (studio) monitors. And let's be honest: appearance is often a poor indicator of technical qualities. I have yet to meet the first person who melts away just by staring at a pair of Danley SH50s.
I guess the img tag doesn't support httpS...

It does at least seem to be built to a high standard with which I could never compete. But there are a few French "grosses gamelles" that do even look very nice as well.

No. You are specifying a web page not a picture.

I had used the image button / IMG tag. It doesn't work with *secure* http.
Thank you for re-posting the images.
A special thank you to Don K and Docali...the most unique part of my journey would not of been so, if it had not been for their generosity. I can attest that they are dedicated to represent their talents to the fullest, even at leisure. A great quality!

No.
Images with https are posted and those that are http: are made into https:.
You put an html link into the URL not an image URL. On your imagur control-clik (right-click) and open the image link into a new tab and use that URL.

OMG! I'm one of *those* people! :slapmyhead:
Crazy question time. Can I mount a woofer in front of another woofer? As in, the 18h in a sealed box...with the 15M mounted "open baffle" directly in front of the 18h...
Sure, as long as they are fed the same signal with some sort of XO to keep the back one from modulating the front one's higher frequencies, so basically a 1.5 system.

The same loudspeaker - albeit with radial horn this time - next to his slightly bigger brother, and other 2 way systems from the same manufacturer.

- Is it possible to cover the whole spectrum, high SPL, low distortion with a 2-way?
