Assuming I've bribed all the early builders sufficiently to report no monumental ookups... the store will begin working their way through the remainder of the 'interest list' shortly following the elated reporting of all the happy builders in about a month. That's the plan... but as we've seen, plans sometimes need contingencies. 🙂If I order a balanced chassis direct from Gianluca when is the balanced kit expected to be available in Store?
If chassis will be available from Store also in the near future then it is maybe best to wait to ensure kit-components fits the chassis 100% ?
I am in no hurry so I can't wait for the perfect solution 🙂
How big are the boards? I was planning to put it in a 230x230 2U galaxy. I only have 1RCA pair in, 1RCA pair out, and 1 xlr pair out. I also am not doing the VC in the Pre.
Just a mild nudgenudge - steel covers are preferable, signal Iron is sensitive to big Donuts around
There are two sets of balanced outputs?
There are two sets of balanced outputs?
that's for Greedy Boy to chose - 2 pairs of XLR, or one pair of XLR + one pair of RCA
of course, in first case, one can always get SE from XLR, using set of XLR to RCA cables
What is an "essentials kit"?Received the essentials kit from the diyaudo store, Thanks!
Waiting for the parts from Mouser and Antek to start the build.

just few parts, but you get (fake) Papa's signature

Well, you guys could have yours deleted if you like...
My recommendation still stands.
If someone is considering the Pesante with steel covers, they should check that their chosen layout for the rear panel will work.

A piece of advice / guidance re: the chassis if one chooses the Pesante with steel top and bottom panels instead of one of the custom chassis --
you certainly succeeded in confusing me ....... though that's not so hard to achieve

I was reading the discussion about the design and details of the enclosure for IronPre smiling and wondering if my spare alu chassis from an old DAC converter would be good enough as well.
The question is: can I use a fully closed enclosure without any ventilation holes? The dimensions are about 170 x 300 x 60 mm. I know it depends of how much heat will be dissipated at all and my power consumption calculations of IronPre showed it should be less than 5 W, estimated with the thumb😎

My IP is built in an enclosure without vents, no problem at all. It doesn't generate enough heat to worry.
yup
my approach with shunt regs is not to use excessive dissipation as weapon
no more than enough current overhead (CCS programmed current), error amplifier with enough gain, carefully set phase, obsessive routing ........ all that resulting in preamp being Sissy heater
