I installed it just for myself as a fresh install. When you installed it did you choose the 'Install for Everyone' option or did you use 'Install Just For Me' option although either should work normally.
That's why I removed it and reinstalled for everyone, but this made no difference.
I had exactly the same problems with the version before version 24 .
When I start a sim, a line below the circuit diagram shows:
"Waiting for permission to clear (File name) 9 seconds", counting down to zero seconds before the sim starts.
But then the message appears "Could not open include XXX.LIB"
When starting as administrator and opening the same file everything runs without a problem including the several .LIB files.
Thx KSTR , going to legacy toolbar style changed those silly symbols back into good old text, but the running as Administrator kept the same.
Hans
On Windows I created a shortcut to LTSpice on the desktop an set "run as administrator". Whenever I click on the shortcut, it opens LTSpice as administrator.

I really have no idea on all of that I'm afraid.
My install lives in the App Data folder because I chose 'install for me' I guess but I think you should see the same set of files and folder if you installed it to the Program Files. No idea if this gives any clues but this is what I see for my install.
In AppData:
And in AppData > Programs I have this. Note the dates and how nothing here has been altered since I installed LT24.
And the shortcut targets and where to open it.
All these are defaults though, I haven't altered anything.
Below in the attachments is what I see.
The content of the ADI/LTSpice Folder is identical, but when clicking on LTSpice to look for it's properties, things are different and the Shortcut tab is missing in my case.

That looks OK at this point. So yours is an install 'for all users' located in program files. It looks fine and I've compared it with my Windows test setup where I just today as a test clean installed LT to the program files. I see exactly the same as you show.
The LT icon that says 'Application' should open LTspice normally but that is not a Shortcut as such. Come back to that in a minute.
Has the installation created a folder called 'LTspice' in your Documents folder. This may make a difference and I would say it should be documents on your Windows install and not One Drive cloud based documents.
So just trying my new test install and opening it from the LT icon you show in program files and it opens OK. Placed a complex looking chip onto the workspace and saved the file and it automatically saved to the LT folder in Documents.
If you just search your PC for LTspice you can place a shortcut on the taskbar, the start menu or both. Just right click etc.
If I click the 'Open File Location' I see this. Edit... these images from my main setup.
The properties of that shortcut are:

If I look at the shortcut in the above image on my test setup I get this. So this reflects the difference in the two installs. One install to Appdata and one to Program Files.
Mooly,
Thx for investing your time, but I see you still have the Shortcut tab that's missing in my case.
BTW, I simply started the downloaded LTSpice 24 file by clicking on it and let the install program do it's work.
Unfortunately there was no option to install as Administrator, that might also have solved the problem.
Anyhow, I can live with the fact that I always have to start Version 24 as Administrator, but for the time being I see no single reason to switch from XVII to 24.
I only need it when helping others using this version.

When I clean installed it this morning as a test I used the download option from ADI and then just clicked the downloaded file. There was no Admin option, just the option of 'for me' or 'for everyone'. Nothing stood out that I recall as being something to think over, it was a case of click through the install and leave it all at defaults.
Is your Windows account on your PC as Admin one? or are you using an account without Admin properties?
If you go to settings and accounts...

I have at least 50 programs running on my PC including XVII, and none of them has any issue like this

Hans, I'm just guessing now with this but I'll just ask this, does it not run correctly from the very outset? If you run one of the examples for instance and try and resave it under a different name in a different location.
What I'm getting at is are you altering anything at all in the default libraries or program files to custom models and and/or add your own stuff.
I will have another think and might have another play tomorrow on the test setup.
This is why I wondered about the libraries. Never heard of anything like that.

No, not at all. What I'm getting at is are you altering anything at all in the default libraries or program files to custom models and and/or add your own stuff.
I’m just starting a file that runs perfectly in XVII and also in 24 after having started the program as Admin, but just starting 24 without the Admin directive, I get the countdown and the .Lib’s that cannot be opened message.
And as a matter of fact I get the same problems with any other file.

Just doodling... this is exactly what I see when installing LTspice and then running it. In this example I chose 'Install for me'.
The video starts with the installation file already downloaded from ADI. You can skip from 1'10" to 3'40" as this is just the installer progress bar. The screen recorder slows things a little. A file is chosen and run and then resaved with a different name.
(PC is a 12 yr old laptop running 100% clean W11 install of the latest public release 24H2 26120.2200 fully updated. It is just W11 with no 3rd party apps and programs installed)
A cheat sheet with file shortcuts is opened at the end to look at the install. A file is picked, run and resaved.
If the option to 'Install for all Users' had been chosen you see a User Account box appear to ask if you want to allow the install to proceed. This does not happen installing with the other option.

For anyone that hasn't seen it I have added this excellent thread by @cabirio to the index in post #1
While investigating mods for one of the preamps mentioned in my onboard bass preamp thread, I googled "gyrator calculator" and all the ones I found give you the centre frequency and Q for given component values, which is fine if you want to analyze an existing circuit, but the opposite of what you need if you want to modify one or design your own, so I put together a little LTSpice simulation that calculates the components for you and lets you visualize how much you will deviate from the ideal response when you use standard values.

So LTSPICE attempted to install 24.0.12 over my older version of LTSpice and basically wiped it out. Worse than that I cannot install 24 at all on my Lenovo laptop running W11.
This version is apparently half baked and you might want to avoid updates until it is fixed. I am completely without any version of LTSpice at this point, because it uninstalled the previous version first. Going to try and install the last older version on the ADI site.
