Hello All
I have made a first project with the mark Audio CHR70.3, it sound good, i like them really. I have listen the Pluvia 7.2HD it’s better for not so much. (i have little regret, i have listen them after) For my deskroom wich is small really near it’s enough.
Now for my new project i want to make a 55 sqm listening room…. 2 CHR70.3/ 7,2HD it’s not enough. I will be between 2,50 to 4 m at the listening point, the room is 5,5 m large. I want a depth in the sound image. the more realistic as possible, not boring really dynamic, nearest the of top of the line.
I listen mainly alternative rock, pop, piano, guitar classic and electric, vocal
I have not the possiblity to listen other Mark Audio driver, near me no one have them, in fact really few people use full range/coaxial as main listening system.
There is specialized shop but they want sell finished system… not drivers…
i know the driver don’t make all…it depend of what there is before, for the momment i have :
2 diy 12 inch sub wich can help theses future beauties
i have amp NAD 356BEE (it could be changed, a lamp or preamp can be studyed)
a DCX 2496 for filtration/correction
a DAC
i have read on this forum that there very few very good FR and that the price is not the best indicator, good news i have not the budget for the cube audio unfortunatly, even a lowther.
For this project I see bigger, stronger, better…and go to best as possible, due to budget i will be maried with it for minimum 10 years. And you with wich drivers could you get married the rest of your life in theses conditions?

You asked a tough question. It is not possible to marry with one loudspeaker. You need to have at least 2, preferrably 4 pairs st home. Some like them horny, some openly baffled. 😉
As they say "pick your poison" 😀

Frugel-Horn xl with Alpair 10.3 or 11ms, or if it can be taller maybe some Silbury from Woden design

One option could be to marry the Pluvia 7,2HDs, make pre out /main in on your Nad 356BEE if it wasn't born with this feature, use an analogue active (Maybe passive active crossover -Called PLX... something?) crossover, marry everything to an amplifier board and dual? subbass boxes.
That gives you desired sound you already know, and will let your soontobe Pluvias fill 60m2 plus to party-level maybe?
Cheers!

Dont trust others opinion except for inspiration. Dont buy ANYTHING before you have heard it in your listening room.

For Cindra it's the system that you have ?
For Guerilla thank you for your opinion, i was happy when i listen CHR70.3, i was surprised when i listen Pluvia 7.2HD that it was better and in some posts some tells there is better.... and some models are changing or are not available good choice 2-3 year ago are not always true today.
it's TB 2145? what are listening? what you was having before?
I was thinking this forum it's one the best community for full range, some people have listen plenty drivers in many boxes and conditions. The young have to listen experienced people 😉

If you want to stick with Markaudio and single FR driver you can consider some of the larger drivers. I have a similar room size and use CHR-120 in the Pensil mltl. Goes into low 30s so personally I have no need for subs. CHN-110 is another option.
For multidriver solutions you can consider a WAW design (many shared here, also for MA drivers).

I have FHXL with 11ms and FHmk3 with Pluvia 7hd, with tube and SS amps. XL are in bigger room, around 30 m2, mk3 on around 20m3
for Cindra silbury are really to big for me
a FHXL/MK3 or a pensil maximum
For hasgan, 1 pair of chr120 is enough? what are you listening?
for the momment i don't see a WAW i see a true full range helped by sub if needed.
or a solution a multi driver with the same range to have enough power for my 55m² room, it's not fixed i listen everyone

Also consider designs which incorporate two identical full range drivers per box. Double the power handling, significant increase in efficiency, potentially unique listening experience and aesthetics.
Yes a pair is enough in the right enclosure (relatively large ones for this driver). I listen to a variety of music such as metal, rock, classical on moderate volumes (don't expect concert level spl, although this driver can go quite loud). It actually outperforms a lot of other 6,5 inch woofers with it's bass capabilities. Some caveats:for Cindra silbury are really to big for me

1. I have brick walls so there is some room gain
2. I use a minidsp to eq some room modes and tame a peak in the driver response around 7khz
3. These drivers are not subwoofers, just some bass-capable FR drivers.
4. Most modern music has a lot of LF energy in the ~60-120hz area so you can use an enclosure that emphasizes this (e.g. DCR) or apply some eq. In my experience this is what a lot of people are actually looking for when they want bass output of their enclosure (rather than actual low frequencies such as 30hz which is rare in most music).
5. For me the high frequencies of this driver are sufficient (at least on-axis), but not as good as the 3-4inch MA drivers can be. The smaller ones also have better off-axis response.
Maybe a Pensil with an 10.3? Simple to build, not too big, not small. Not the best, nor the worst 😀
But, still, you need to know what you can "swallow". Some poeole like a 3" fullrange, while others are happy with a 15" one...
Sorry I cannot give a definive recommendation, as I have not heard all fullrange speakers that I may like to have...

Ideal driver size depends on the sub's XO point, which in turn sets ideal listening distance, so in short you'll ideally need a large WG loaded small 'FR' driver or a large co- or tri-ax one, so if I was forced to be 'wedded' to one currently available it would be this 15" co-ax and if 'forced' to accept less, then no clue as I haven't auditioned any 'current' 'FR' drivers in decades, though the last one that impressed me was a small Jordan and even it required a super-tweeter, so what bests it nowadays?
@Pierrick59 You ask, so I will take pictures. They are for PC only, but I drilled a pair into the doors of my former car and have plans to put them in my beloved Colt. Putting in doors is bad idea but still aceptable sound. Much better than any car speakers Ive heard.
Again I will urge you not to spend big money before you listen in your room or similar. Even us old guys can be fanbois and fall in love with our gear because we spent big money on it 🙂
As always I only read half of opening post before answering 🙄 -I see you already have x-over and subs. I wonder if your amp can be tinkered into digital loop instead of preoutmainin. Then you could bypass the oldfassioned adc`s/dac`s of your behringer using its digital in/outs
You have dac but your NAD allready has plenty good DAC build in no?
All in all your NAD should be plenty good and shouldn`t be object for upgrading sound. Only reason to change would be if you want other features. Maybe you want to go all digital? I would change x-over to analogue or change amplifiers to digital input ones Some swich before your Behringer to change input? Then you wont need the preamp part of your NAD so you could sell it and get cheaper poweramp instead. For subwoofer Inuke amps from Behringer are plenty good. If you get one of the dsp versions I guess you could sell your DCX 2496 also 😀
Decide if you want to go Digital or analogue. Now you are mixing the two I think. Do you have a turntable? If not I would go Digital Class D with DSP.
Some streamers work as digital preamps too.
Are you sure your CHR70.3 are not powerfull enough for 55m2 with the help of your subwoofers?
Try open baffle subs?
I just killed some time on Facebook I dont know if they are all really "Large-Bande":
