I really like the form and function of the Station Pi SMT. I wish I had ordered two instead of one for backup / modding purposes.

The solderless shorting caught me by suprise as sharing 5V is default.

Same with the TP AES, solderless so easy to independent 3.3V.

I was worried I had to solder short on both of these which has variance, but nope no variance and solderless shorting works perfectly.

So, I'm going to test my chain in a few hours.

But since I have a rare CLK, the settings may not be as straightforward.

I'll try it out in a few hours.

TP MKII works perfectly by default @ 5MHz, crossing fingers the same with the AES.

I'm just caught off guard by the solderless shorting and jumper switch settings.

If there is a problem in a few hours, I can just switch back to TP MKII instead of default XOs if none of the settings work.

I only listen to Redbook since they have the best masterings. I'm not into compressed Music like 99% of the stuff out there so Redbook is fine.

The TP MKII is not working, so I will tackle this over the weekend. I get a lock on the Q7, so I'll check the CLK cable and play around with the GPIO fit after installing proper standoffs for the TP MKII. I only worry if I do not get a LCK since that's the most difficult part in the chain.

It's a combination of memory loss and implementing new parts into the production chain. I think it should turn out okay.

A question. For the SinePi, I cannot lock the inputs anymore over the years. I can get it to sit and stay so the CLK locks, but is there a trick to lock the connector to the SinePi? It locks on the cable side, but the SinePi side I cannot lock. I twist and twist but not luck.

Anyways, I stopped browsing all the threads over a month ago because I don't have the energy to browse fast moving threads but I noticed your content contained a 10 MHz CLK. I never understood it either.

I really don't understand why they use 10MHz OCXO for audio application. If a DAC takes 10MHz clock as MCLK input, that means the DAC must have an internal PLL to generate the audio frequencies from the 10MHz clock input. However if you had ever measure the phase noise of a PLL output, you will never think that is a good idea....no exception, even with the best PLL technologies. I'm telling the truth, just hope I'm wrong.

Somewhat good news. I got a lock on the DAC side via Toslink, but still no Music yet.

I changed the GPIO fit. I didn't want to as I wanted to be safe with the proper standoffs.

I also changed the software from sysdefault:CARD=sndrpirpidac to default:CARD=sndrpirpidac.

So I don't know which one worked to get a DAC LCK.

I'm going to go back and search my software archives for the correct setting.

Since my memory is bad, this might turn out to be a software not hardware issue.

If you have time and the experience, please let me know how to twist and tighten the connectors to the SinePi? It has driven me crazy over the years why I can't get the connectors to tighten. Thanks

What you could do is pretend to be a customer at the cybershaft japanese company and email them questions.

That's the only way to satisfy your curiosity if a technical person @cybershaft can answer some basic questions.

Thanks Ian. I'm too Ian Old School to try your recommendations. I'm not familiar with the new Ian products for the last two years. The last time I troubleshooted was the peak of COVID-19 so I just need a little time to build a rhythm and gain some memory back.

Mission Accomplished, it's working again! It was a combination of SW & HW.

On the SW side, it ended up default:CARD=sndrpirpidac even though my previous settings were hw:CARD=sndrpirpidac

But it turns out the Main issue was getting familiar with the passive power upgrades.

I noticed the Toslink stays locked on the DAC no matter what SW changes I make. I want the lock to unlock when I reboot, it doesn't.

So I had to turn off the DAC, turn off the 3.3V, turn off the RPi 5V so the lock disappears. Sometimes, the Audio 5V.

Before it was all one stack so when it resets, it all resets. Now, everything is separated including PWR so I have to turn off every separate component to troubleshoot properly. But it's working again.

I'll try the AES over the weekend. I'm still not sure about the jumper settings yet. But I got Music on the TP MKII.

I'm here to report back my thoughts about the GB items, it consists of Purepi II+FifoPi Q7+MonitorPi Pro+TransportPi AES+UcConditional II 3.3V.
The moment I start played through my Roon server + Hqplayer to the setup which connected to Mytek Brooklyn DAC, I was blown away by the sound it produced as compared to my old Sotm SMS200 ultra neo. So much detail of the sound which I never noticed before, and add more energy to the music. Once again I must said well done and big big thanks to Ian.
The only down side of it was, I can't mount the UcConditional 3.3v wire connector same side with the FifoPi Q7 and PurePi II which UcConditional sit on top of TransportPi AES, because block by AES connector.

Thanks for the offer, but everything is good now. I have been listening to Music for an hour with no hiccups.

It was a combo of GPIO fit and 5 points of failure on the new passive power supplies.

The GPIO fit because I don't want to push the TP MKII in too deep as it may short circuit. It's temp, the AES will be primary.

I'll work on the AES over the weekend. I'll let you know if I have trouble with the AES.

The Main issue was because I have to unplug four points instead of one point to reset the whole chain. On a single, tall stack you turn off and on and it resets everything. My new chain, I have to turn off and on RPi 5V, Audio 5V, 3.3V and my DAC before the whole chain resets. If I forget to not turn off and on at one point like Audio 5V then the chain never resets. So it's all good as long as I reset the whole chain properly. The fifth point is Andrea's CLK, but it doesn't need to be reset like the rest of the chain.

I'm really happy to be back in the game. I'm just waiting for my RPi5s. My Audiophile OS is updated to support RPi5 now and is 4-5x better latency performance than the RPi4. My RPi 5V handles up to 100A so should be no sweat. It looks like I'll be running the CPU @2.8GHz not 3GHz.

Having a realtime low latency OS is part of Music Phisiology as it reduces anomalies and timing in the chain. The Brain is super sensitive to the tiniest of anomalies.

I'll check back over the weekend.
