Hi YWH,
I guess you missunderstood. I originally asked you for a replacement burner for a Sharp XH-E690U projector (see post #2364) and you responded asking if the electrodes have different sizes. That's why I took the photo. I still don't know which one I would have to order.
Thanks, Sigi
Hi YWH,
Were you able to determine if you can do the 200W lamp for my proj?

Infocus X2 lamp
YWH, thank you for replying. I want to order the bulb, but I wanted to make sure that I won't have trouble changing it. I have taken the housing apart and can remove the old burned out bulb. For the new bulbl, will I just need to attach the wires to screws or will I need to do some cementing? Please explain. Thank you. CAB in Texas

Hello ywh, need supplier of 270W SHP
Hello ywh,
I have recently read with interest some of your postings in diyaudio.com regarding SHP project lamp with placement. From the postings it appears that you are able to provide bulbs to rebuild the lamp.
I am currently looking for a supplier of bulb in order to rebuild a lamp in my SharpVision XZ-10000 (AN-K10LP (BQC-XVZ100001)). My research indicates the bulb is a 270W SHP/ 2000 hour. I do not know is the manufacture and model number of the actual bulb and have not yet to disassemble the lamp to check for identification marks or labeling on the bulb.
I also noticed in your various threads that you sometimes reference the reflector, referring to two different shapes and/or styles. From a novice perspective my reflector appears to be in good condition with low damage or discoloration although I am uncertain if a reflector must be changed out along with a bulb. For your information the bulb did explode but it does not appear to have damaged the reflector. I am attaching for your reference a photograph of the reflector still in the lamp assembly.
Would you please advise if you are able to supply the reference bulb and if so the cost and delivery time.
Regards,
WDC

For what it's worth, I successfully replaced the bulb (thanks ywh) in my Sanyo PLV-Z2 using the beer bottlecap technique. I just watched a 2.5 hour movie without problems.
Here's the solution: I fastened the bottle cap to the screw end of the replacement bulb using a wingnut, and then used .48mm galvanized steel wire to hold the cap+bulb assembly into the reflector housing. Two steel wire loops run from each wing of the wingnut to opposite front corners of the reflector assembly.
Advantages of this technique are:
1. I can reposition the bulb to align it within the center of reflector housing as-needed.
2. No mess and no waiting for cement to dry.
3. When the bulb needs replaced again, removal is much simpler since there no cement to dig/drill out.

Hi YWH,
I don't think it was from you, I never ordered one. I would need to know what I have to order (AC or DC) as a replacement.
Thanks, Sigi

The projector is already tucked away and would be a pain to pull it out to get a pic. Instead, I created this drawing, to illustrate the solution.
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
The Steel Spacer shown in the drawing was needed since the bulb stuck too far out from the end of the reflector housing. I have a junk box of metal pieces, like screws, nuts, washers, spacers, etc. so it was no problem to find one that worked. Additionally, I used a pronged wire terminal between the wingnut and the bottlecap to fasten the wire to that end.
BTW, I did scrape out the rubber seal from the underside of the bottlecap, just in case it might melt from the heat, but it likely wouldn't have caused a problem any.

YWH,
Wonderful news, thanks! Is this a hard lamp to change out? Also, what is the price for them?
If it's not hard to change them out, I'll be buying one soon so I have a backup - like I said, the projector is new, so I hope the new lamp will last quite awhile yet, but would like to have a replacement on hand - maybe even 2 - when it does go out.
