I just figured out that there is a special made power supply for the dlcp. I am going to order it and test it. Seeing the quality of the DLCP it will probably a very good improvement.
Hi, I'm considering to order DLCP only with power supply (without input board and display) but I need some information before I place order:
1. I currently use Aes/Ebu input in my crossover so, is it possible just to connect wires to J2 connector on DLCP (female XLR) for Aes/Ebu digital input or I need something more than just simple connection?
2. If I want to use optical (toslink spdif) input , what do I need to connect to DLCP and make it work directly from my soundcard? Is is simple Toslink receiver like this (Toslink Transmitter Receiver Optical Modules TX / RX; High Speed Signal Transmitter / Receiver (8Mbps, NRZ signal)) or need to assemble new little board with this receiver and some smd chip and caps etc..?
P.S. If it's already written in some posts, please provide me a link to that post..
Thanks.

Q2=only receiver. No borad needed.

Thanks for quick response..
If you know one more thing about power supply, well, I already have 2 smps400a180 and 2 smps400a400 so I want to use Aux voltage output from one SMPS400a400 (it better fits the voltage about 20v), but in the datasheet it said it is "Unregulated" so, is it safe enough to use that power supply or just tu add some Voltage regulators to "solve the problem"?
Well as you have a very high quality DSP platform I would not use a non regulated, possibly sagging due to shared with a power amp, power source to feed such a delicate unit.

Yes, you are right. That's why I'm asking everything before make a purchase..
Depends on how good your regulator is.
something like this

What do you think?
Thank you. At the end, the best option is to use official power supply (SMPS DLCP)...
I was thinking about using something else then minidsp for my next project and am seriously considering the Hypex Dlcp + Hypex amp boards. I have a few questions though that you guys might be able to answer:
1. The minidsp units create a frightening "pop" when they suddenly get disconnected from their powersource (during a poweroutage for example). Is this something the Dlcp also has or does it have proper protection build in?
2. I wasn't really planning to buy the control board, but I will require some form of on/off or standby control. Is it possible to connect a general IR receiver to the board? Something like this for example. Or do you use different methods for on/off/standby control?

Would it be OK to connect DLCP SMPS to switch which I'm already using to power ON/OFF
4 SMPS for UCDs?
Will there be pop's while powering all ON/OFF?

Hi Meex
Generally yes
We do similarly in our PowerBox 6pro NCore
Just make sure, that the DLCP provides the AmpOn signals (not the SMPS)
So, the DLCP un-mutes the amplifiers when it is ready.
Best, Frank

Thanks for the info's. I understand what you mean.
