thanks for the link to the swinging one , very cool .
what mid bass do you use w/ the beyma ?
or what would you use as reference driver ?
i was looking at the Acoustic Elegance TD15LO , probably start out w/ one and perhaps extend to a WTW configuration later.
unfortunately , i have no idea about the theories for bass open baffle and would be doing some trial and error n the half dark.
how much eq is needed to make them work down to 80hz ?
i have the means to add EQ w/ a deqx easily .

The setup shown in the "swingin' thread" was meant just as a teaser.
Own setup develops quite different.
Anway the Beyma 12G40 definitely is a keeper 🙂
With moderate SPL levels it works for me with no sub below.
Though, with deqx (or similar) you can use any driver with decent displacement specs - no need to run for a special one IMO.
In bass (dipole or not) its straight forward - more is "better" (if you need it) - no magic in there.
😉
As for comparison of different OB sub designs have a look at John Kreskovky's page - very informative.
Right now I'm testing / developing variants of AMT-sub configurations - might be we see some conclusions - but don't hold your breath - everything is very much slowed down "at the moment"

i would use the acoustic elegance TD15LO not as sub but as a Mid Bass playing from 80 to 1500hz .
A 15" is possibly not ideal up to XO'ing with an AMT - no matter if AE or anything - but you can always try - everything goes in audio...

is your horn on the front and the back as Michael describes in the thread
Yes it is, symmetrical. You can split halves (and install driver) easily by using a force - no more screws.
i am not sure i understand .is the bass module part of the waveguide ?
No, bass modules can be stacked at the top or at the bottom. Cable goes only down so AMT crossover must be in the bottom bass module. In January I will be testing 8" woofers similar to this:
GDN-30-400-8-SE
(low Mms, moderate Q and high sensitivity)
Did anyone see the project in Speaker Builder magazine "Horn Loaded Heil" ?
It looked great with loading down to 300hz. Would liked to have heard it.

could you scan and post that article from Speaker Builder magazine .
i would love to read it as i am planning to horn load the beyma tpl150 , or use existing horns ???

I will look for the two-part series of construction of AMT transducer and matching 300Hz horn

Michael
Author is Kenneth Rauen -- A super article/project
Have located two-part series & am scanning tonite!
I'll start adding rest of project here so that everyone can evaluate🙂

Now to Part 2:
Here the author describes his construction of the Heil 300hz horn and an actual AMT driver (difficult)(most experimenters would rather work with an existing commercially manufactured AMT driver I would imagine)

Part 2 cont.
Hi NewVista,
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Best regards
Peter
I remember hearing Ken's horn loaded Heil's at a SMWTMS meeting many years ago. Quite the project. Very efficient set up! Ken moved out West and started a sub-woofer company (now defunct). Last I heard he was still in California.
