Thanks Kari, I popped in and made a few edits, I think there is enough info there now to collect Data on level of interest.
Got to this link and scroll to bottom

Hello Kari!
Semi-OT question, could you show a picture of that display board that comes with the relay controlled boards?
Thanks

Hey Anthony, one possibility is to order the right values of resistors to create a 25 step 5k switched vol control. Then people can use them with whatever switches they want to. I doubt that we can get much unanimity on this though- It usually bogs down into discussions of whether to use serial or ladderarrangements. With a balanced output,
I believe we would need an 8 deck switch for ladder type- not easy or cheap!
There has been some talk about using a switch or pot that shorts between the two balanced outputs of a channel The problem with this is getting the correct resistor values, but I think it can be done. If it works, then a 4 pole switch would work in a ladder configuration for both channels. Anyone have input on this?
Again, this is a minefield usually, and absolutly better to keep separate from the main order!

Anthony,
The capacitors:
Cornell Dubilier part #: 380LX472M100A04; 100V, 4700uF.
I called the sales rep. today: the price will be $5.53 each, minimum order 100 pieces. New stock, delivery time 4-6 weeks.
Let me know.
Heat sink-I have 94 on hand (I will keep some for myself), but can get more.
The balance remote from diy club does look pretty good.
I think Owen is working on something similar too.

Thanks Gengis, I will touch base with you a little later when I know how many additional caps I will need.

I am going to start collecting funds for the GB now, this does not mean it is closed. I will leave it open as long as possible, I just want to get a head start on the funds being available.
I will send everyone who signed up on the Wiki my pay Pal Pal address and keep track of the payments as they come in.
So that everyone is clear, as the differential between what the kits cost me and what I have collected, increases or decreases as the case may be, so will the shipping cost fluctuate. Every one will get a share of the balance, if any, based on the number of members participating not the number of Kits. It is possible that those of you in the North West US and Canada may get free shipping, where Europe will need to offset shipping costs by a slightly larger amount.
If there is enough of a consesnsus to do something else with the surplus finds, if any, I can do that too, but then your are all going to pay full pop for shipping when the time comes. 😀
I had another thought to try to include some Solen 10uf caps for C3 & C4 instead of offset the shipping. Comments are always welcome.

I have sent invoices to everyone but Joster, apparently he would prefer not to be contacted by PM. 🙂
Joster please contact me via email so that I can send you a request for PrePayment.
The Parts GB remains open at this time.
Still absolutely no feedback on whether anyone wants to add C3 & C4 of any variety to the GB. I suppose that decision faces the same seemingly insurmountable logistics as a Volume Control.

I would choose caps instead of shipping.
Maybe we should have option of kit with caps or without. If no consesus could be reached we should go with your choice for the kit with caps. Personaly, I like complete kit, so I do not have to wait for anything, just to assemble and enjoy...

I think putting solens in is a fine place to start. Then you know that you have an upgrade path in the future, if you are so motivated. I think everyone would agree that Solens are worth the money. Although not everyone would be willing to fork out the long green for the likes of the Mundorfs.
Whatever you choose to do will be fine with me, but having the caps included would be nice.

illusionxx please contact me using PM so that I can send you an invoice for Pre Payment.
If anyone else signs up on the Wiki for a parts GB and you do not have your PM enabled in your profile you have to PM me so I can get the ball rolling. Anyone who has signed up but has remained incognito will face the risk of being left out.
I hope that does not sound to dictorial.

Duely noted, let's get some more feedback, we are still a long way for free caps or shipping at this point. 🙂

Regarding C3 and C4, if it's in the original circuit, I would like those parts to be included in the kit, be it generic or exotic parts.

Thanks for the feedback Fcel, is this a make or break for you?

I would like to have it simply because I do not want to have any missing parts when I'm ready to built it. But ..... if the majority do not want this part, then I can go either way and I'll make a note to myself.

There is certainly enough room in my budget for an entry level part for C3 & C4 if that's what the group wants. I just do not want to laden someone with a part they are going to toss aside upon construction, that just seems a waste to me.
I am not making any executive decisions over this part at this point anyway, so it can go on the back Burner.
Right now I have a call to make to my Nichicon Rep to see what I can ring out of him as far as a few caps go. 🙂
Did I mention I will be using Dale RN60 resistors in the Kit where ever possible?
I am waiting for Kari to answer a question regarding the 27R 2W resistor, I would like to sub in a 25R resistor if the circuit is compliant.

What schematic or PCB is everyone working from when you are talking about C3 and C4? these are the output caps arnt they?
On the PCB layout I have been refering to the output caps are C4 & C5.
There is probably a final version of the PCB or schematic that I have missed, if there is could someone tell me where it is.
Thanks
Mark🙂

I would not mind to have some good variant of C3 and C4 included. However, I'm on the GB regardless...

C3 - C4
I would like to put a vote in for leaving C3-4 out to be purchased later. I'm confused by which one to get, (which is not unusual for me) but leaving it out allows time for research for the one that feels correct. It might be the Mulcaps, Solens or not but I wouldn't want four caps hangin' around as more paperweights on my desk if it ended up in the (or not) catagory. These kits are expensive already and C3-4 is going to drive them up higher. I will go either way with the flow of the GP but would vote to purchase C3-4 afterwards.

Re: C3 - C4
All good points, finally some discussion. BTW my mistake, the nomenclature is C4 & C5 NOT C3 & C4 that I keep referring to, for the output caps.

I am still unsure whether to put my vote in for caps with GB or not in the GB.
Just a thought;
If the caps were left for another time then maybe a new GB could be started that might attract more people and not just the ones in this current GB, this could possibly lower the cost even more.
Anyway I will probably be happy to go with the majority decsion as long as the price isnt too high for what is after all just a capacitor
Later,
Mark🙂
