Guys, I'm really glad the speakers went down well, especially for you Bob, as their owner of course! Wish I could build them that pretty. It's always good to get some feedback from builders & also independant sets of ears, whether it's positive or constructive cititcism. Martin -your good opinion of their sonics means a lot.
Out of interest, what values (roughly) did you end up with in the correction circuit?

We ran with only one set of values for the BSC. A 1 mH inductor and a 4 ohm resistance. The circuit I left with Bob has a rheostat (variable resistor) so he can experiment with different resistance values and determine what works best for him in his set-up and room.
Aha. Cheers for that Martin. I thought the values would probably hover around that point.
Nearly forgot: a single vent version of the Chilli-Chang is possible -just double the front-rear depth of the lower slot-vent. Compared to a normal MLTL it's not going to go as low, as we're limited in the line-length of the main enclosure, but it should cater for 167 owners who want a slightly different presentation. 🙂

Chili-Gomez?, KimChi-Chang sounds better...
Depends on who you ask, but understand it was just meant to be a humorously flippant (silly) remark with no disrespect meant to you or any of the Chang Dynasty.

Thanks! Gees, didn't know one was already in the works. I can't keep up! I help Scott get a little better understanding of various alignments awhile back and he runs amuck with MJK's software! 🙂 Ah! The exuberance of youth, wish I still had mine in such heady times as these!

A common problem in America these days. For sure it took its toll on my overall health, personal relationships, etc. and why I got off that particular merry-go-round at 48, which now has its own set of stress factors due to circumstances apparently beyond our citizen's and/or government's control.

Ron,
No need to apologize... just don't let work kill you... the world would lose some of its riches

of course, this is enjoyable and helps take mind off of more important and stressful things in life. I am all for keeping it light and enjoyable.

thanks dave,
KimChi Chang is probably better than Kim Chi Chang. KimChi refers to a favorite Korean dish. LIke Chili it is spicy hot, but addictive...

My mouth is watering thinking about it. An acquired taste to be sure but I'm sure glad I know about it.

Could this "line length" be increased for this single vent version? How much larger would it need to be?

Compared to a MLTL, what would some of the sonic differences be?
RockysDad said:Could this "line length" be increased for this single vent version? How much larger would it need to be?
Yes, it can be increased. As for how long it would need to be, we're in the 'how long is a piece of string' zone, as it depends on the tuning frequency, and also how tall a box you can stomach. If you make a considerable addition for example, you'll be getting near to the height of the doubled box. Not that there's anything wrong with that of course.

Martin made some remarks about that above as compared to his Lowther based MLTLs. The only additions I would add are I'd expect a larger LF soundstage & improved directionality (similar to a BLH in this respect).
