Christopher, a friend from USA, someone that belongs to our forum

Had bougth a Gradiente Model 160, this unit was from the seventies, and was constructed when Government decided to create a free of duties harbor helping the Amazonas State Development.

So, a factory was constructed in Manaus, the Capital of the Amazonas State (Amazon for foreigners).

This started our provision of Imported transistors, as we were closed for importation during 15 long years, having SemiKron factory, Texas, Fairchild, and Philips factories working in my country....but...Japanese Toshibas and other good brands were impossible to us.

Gradiente started a more modern line, they remove the electrolitic condenser from the output, the supply turns symetrical and some chips were used to the power amplifier input (4558 and others).

Gradiente, that already was a Champion of sales in my country, jumped to a more brigth position...... they made partnership with JVC to use some schematics, and started the Grey slim line, used till our days.

This model 160 was the second more powerfull during the seventies...near 1980 the model 360 arrived as the higher power to home use.

Some Power amplifiers, developed during the JVC agreement, are considered top performers even our days, when many digital switching amplifiers are in production in my country, some Class H and others more standard..... but the old ones are respected till our days.

This North American friend, someone that writtes a better portuguese than i can write, bougth the Model 160 in the E Bay and i want to ASK my people to help me to provide him the Model 160 schematic diagram.....i could not find it till today.

The U.S. friend has the Bushroot mail, personal name Christopher.... i do not know his name in our forum.

Here is a sample of the images i have uploaded about the model, all images provided by Christopher, they are high resolution pictures...visit the link guys!...and enjoy!

To DIY construction or to modifications, suggestions are down here

Red are included subcircuits
Green are modified parts...different values.

Well...suggestions only...you can make the way you prefer, and please Christopher and other friends...tell me how you did it.

Output voltage is around 18 volts..... 40 watts over 8 ohms.

Supply voltage can be 36 to 40 Volts.....upper line is positive.

Stand by current may be that one needed to have more than 600 milivolts in ALL output transistors and drivers.

Amplifier was designed in january of 1970.

regards,

Carlos
